I have many stories about thanking veterans but I had one today that touched me deeply. I was in the line at the local C-store and the guy in front of my was asked by the clerk how his son was doing. He answered that the son was at Walter Reed and was going to be ok. The clerk who is 25 if a day said to him "Well you were in the service too weren't you?" He said yes and he would go again if they would let him. As he turned I extended my hand and said "Thank you for you and your son's service. Welcome home brother!" He broke down and cried on the spot. He said "No one has welcomed me home ever." We went outside and had a good cry together. I am not ashamed of tears for veterans and I am generally considered a hard a$$. When I went back inside to finish my transaction all of the clerks came and hugged me and said that was the best thing they had seen in weeks. I have a new friend and am getting hugged by young ladies. Great Day!!!!!

BTTT for EV. We get a new world order with either McCain or Obama. There have been a lot of tank truck and semi accidents closing down interstates and lots of carnage. The drivers of some of those trucks are Mexican nationals so it appears the www.spp.gov is already operating when Mexican nationals are causing big fiery crashes in Floriduh. They’re taking out big sections of interstate cuz they can’t drive. McCain doesn’t care...

They NEVER give the name of the truckdrivers initially. Mexican truckdrivers are horrible.

Thanks for that link on your profile page. It’s refreshing to see in writing what a politician stands for, and to know he really stands for those values. Um, what does McLame stand for again? Oh, nevermind. I’m not voting for that waste of oxygen anyway.

Interesting. Thanks for the link. I will do more in depth reading this up coming week. I'm a little too tired this late in the evening for further review especially after working out doors all day. I want to make sure I'm not reading Obama or McCain's website thinking it's the Independent party website. ;O)

IMHO it starts with Article 1 Section 8 and the 10th amendment. Having to choose between McCain and Obama is tantamount to having to choose between boarding the Titanic or the Lusitania.

Wow!

I got something in my eye myself, reading that “Welcome Home, Brother”. Man!

My dad was a Major with the Special Forces during the Vietnam war. He did a couple of tours during the sixties. I asked him a couple of years ago about what kind of reception he got when he got back to “the world”.

He told me that fortunately, since he disembarked at Travis Air Base in NorCal (Mom and us kids were in SoCal at that moment), he didn’t have to directly experience the shameful treatment that other vets did upon first touching their home soil again.

He did say, however, that subsequently, he got some angry stares here and there while off base and in uniform, but no one ever challenged him directly, or tried anything with him. He said that he remembers feeling a definite hostility from a lot of the civilian public at the time. Matter of fact, that one question produced the longest letter he’s ever written to me. It’s amazing how much charge he still had about those days, and how his brothers were treated.

Since about 2000, I never let a Veteran’s Day go by without calling and thanking him for his service. I was darn proud of my old man when I was a kid, and I remain so today.

Ronald Reagan was a Pragmatic Conservative and someone else said on this forum that if Reagan was alive and running for President today he would have been savagely attacked by the “absolutists”.

McCain may be pragmatic, but he is no conservative, and all your boot licking will not make him a conservative.

Just because you don't like it it is not BS. It's a matter of his record as a Senator.

And no I don't realize that we will lose America forever if Obama is President. That is ridiculous hand-wringing hysteria. There is just as much reason to say the same about McCain. His amnesty for 20 million illegals, which then brings in their family members, will cost billions and permanently create an unbeatable liberal voting block. His cap-and-trade glowbull warming legislation will cost trillions and force industry to scale back instead of grow. Either plan alone will kill our economy.

Do you have any real idea just how long the GOP has been playing the meme, "Do you realize that if {fill in name of current democrat party nominee} becomes President we will lose America forever? Haven't you yet learned to stop quaking in your boots every time the GOP poobahs squawk, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"?

Why not stand for principle and vote for one of the real conservatives which several third parties are offering instead? Why not take a stand and tell the GOP you'll no longer continue to swallow the crap sandwiches they continue to offer as candidates?

I looked up the results of ‘96, painful as it was and I noticed six states that Clinton picked off from Dole that year: Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee, West Virginia.

As we all know, Bush took all of the aforementioned states in 00 and 04. My question is will B. Hussein pick off these states by default or apathy as you said? I can’t really disagree with you about TN (since I don’t live there), but my line of reasoning here is that JFK was the last non-Southern Dem to win the White House. I’m still not quite sure yet if B. Hussein will pick off roughly half of the South they Bubba did.

BTW, didn’t Perot have a perfunctory side show run in ‘96?

"America is the most blessed country and God will never forsake America the greatest and most benevolent nation in history of mankind."

While I appreciate your patriotism and sentiment....I also happen to be a realist. John McCain may well be our next president, but that's nothing to celebrate about, really. He is only the lesssor of two evils, Obama being the 'nth' of evils with respect to the damage he could and would do to this country.

As for your comment that God will never forsake America...I hope and pray that you are right. But I don't presume to know what God will or will not do. Especially since roughly half of Americans are either rabid lefties or becoming lefties. This country's morality has been slipping into the sewer for decades thanks to these cretins. I daresay that even God has his 'limits' as to what he will or won't accept from his children.

I just keep remembering that olde but never-truer saying: United we stand....divided we fall. And the leftists are experts and masters at dividing the country.
