Firefighters on the scene said they pulled a third manhole cover off to assess the damage, then began pumping carbon dioxide gas into the damaged holes to suppress the flames.But but but...it's a 'pollutant', according to a few enlightened judges!

Don’t know what happened. But every so often a vault explodes and a manhole cover goes airborne I've heard that New Yorkers are so used to manhole covers blown into the air that they nudge each other and say "heads!" "tails!"
