I wished we had Prop. 4 in 1988.

Voting yes on Prop 9 is building borrowing the money to build an outdoor prison for yourself.

No thanks.

If sex offenders are convicted, keep them in jail, thank you.

Yikes! Looks like I’m gonna be a lot poorer in ‘09 if some of these pass.

Thanks, CCC. Good thread.
Hiram Johnson’s legacy continues (What a bunch of garbage!)

YES on 4 and 8 — looks like a big ‘NO’ on the rest
(although I want to read the details of each before deciding for sure.)

Its a tough call, but my hunch is most are turned off by the recent gay marriages, even many liberals. I think 8 will pass easily. But you are right, if it fails then the judicial tyranny argument goes out the window. Next step: Polygamy.

"Makes me so excited that I get to live in California. Someone is always propositioning me."

Nevada'a "No new taxes" Gov. Gibbons called a special session of the state legislature last Friday to deal with a $250 million revenue shortfall.

His statement to the legislature was twofold: No tax increases, everything else is on the table.

It took the legislature less than a day to come up with the cuts.

The governor also told the public that, when the new legislature meets in Jan. 2009, the two year legislative budget cannot be higher than the last two years. And NO NEW TAXES.

The Initiative system in California is a two-edged blade. It was via intiative that California passed Props. 13 (property tax limitation), 187 (anti-illegal alian measure), and 209 (anti-affirmative action). None of these would have passed the legislature.

To put it bluntly, I trust the people far more then I trust elected officials (i.e. the people can get it right ... leftist Dems never will).

Where is the one about saving $14 bill a year by eliminating benefits for illegals?

YES on 4, 8 & 9

NO on the others

(watch for the key words “increased spending,” “expand,” and “bond” and you’ll always know how to vote on ballot measures)

Good advice all us Kalifornians would do well to heed this.

I've barely gotten past the titling. Lot more study yet to go. My general reaction to the majority of propositions is NO.

Upon further review, we'll see.

Just move a few miles over the hill to the lee side.

No state income tax either.

I’d definitely vote yes on the one to prevent cruelty to animals, restrict abortion, and limit marriage. I’m glad to see the animal one on there. Some of those animals are treated horrendously. Here is a picture:

"Can't we recall him?"

Well, I understand his polls have fallen from the 60's to the 40's quite rapidly and quite recently... This should help make it possible when that celebrity swoon wears off!!!

Both the Jesse Ventura thing in MN and the Schwartzenegger swoon here have been terribly costly to both states. This is what "Government by Whim" looks like, people!!!
