I would say rather that cell phones allow people to much freedom so the liberals are trying to manufacture a new scare that will cause people to eventually turn against them. That way not only will we not be able to drive our cars but we won’t be able to talk to people when we are out riding our bicycles or riding our wonderful public transportation systems./SAR

That’s pretty amazing for a 3.6 Volt, 2200 milliamphour battery.
Why do I get the feeling this claim may go the way of the electric-power-lines-cause-leukemia claims from Sweden a few years ago?

There is iron in every cell of the human body. Iron is the key atom in blood that lets it transport oxygen and gives it a metallic taste. Iron is also the key material in radio antennas. Iron reacts with radio waves converting the electromagnetic energy into an electric current that can be amplified.
Radio waves expand with distance losing their power density however a metal surface will reflect microwaves and a curved metal surface can refocus the energy like a lens. Sitting inside an airliner with 300 people talking on their cell phones is a little like being inside a microwave oven.

Aren't we being bombarded by stuff just by sitting in our living rooms and watching TV? “Might” is the operative word in the claim of the article.

I have a new implanted cardiac defibrillator. Instructions are to use a cell phone on the ear opposite the ICD.
That aside, there was a story not long ago that some morbidly obese woman had grown to the couch where she lay, so that the couch material had become part of her skin.
From looking around Atlanta, It is evident to me that cell phones will be the next big evolutionary move. Cell phones are in use so much that they will grow to the ear and become part of human DNA.

Cordless phones are also harmful....so they say
With both cell and cordless you are holding a radiation source closer to you and for longer periods than anything else you use. The closeness is the killer

If it is at all dangerous it will only affect those that need to have them surgically removed because they are pinned to their head where ever they go. You probably know what I am talking about.

You want me to google you a reference to what specifically? The airliner curved metal with 300 watts of microwaves inside is myself putting two and two together. There was a Japanese physicist that studied the effects of radio waves inside a metal train passenger car. You can google that formal study if you are the academic type.

Isn't that just peachy? It's great!
Natural selection at work.
Converting a necessity into a toy may have unexpected consequences that will reap great rewards.
Just saying.

"We don't see a risk looking at currently available data, but we need more definite answers about the biological effects of cell phone radiation and about the more complicated question of whether mobile phones might cause even a small increase in the risk of developing cancer" says David Feigal, M.D., director of FDA's Center for Devices and Radiological Health. That's the second paragraph of this posted article with the FDA basically saying we don't know if cell phones are safe long term.
I wanted to read the paper linked in comment# 1 before I wrote anything more since I started the thread. There's another link at comment# 12 that's worth a gander if the science is over your head.
IMHO, prudence dictates that you keep your landlines, and use your cellphones next to your ears just for emergencies. That's what I'm telling family and friends. This is starting to look like a tort lawyer's delight.

If you are in a place where you can, and privacy is not an issue (nor is there anyone around to annoy), use the speakerphone.
Iirc, EM radiation decreases by the distance to the third power.
I also use external antennae when I use the phone, more often than not (simply because I need to use an amplifier and a directional antenna where I use the phone the most). Distance and shielding (from the structure I am in) should help. I’m not getting rid of the landline anyway.
