You still have to prove your identity to vote early.

Both McCain and Palin should have asked their opponents if they STILL favor giving loans to help poor people get housing.

They're afraid of being tarred with the "racist" brush, because that's exactly what the MSM commentators will do. I saw on some of the financial shows a few financial pundits suggest precisely what you say, and the overwhelming wave of vituperative response from the liberal commentators was, "What?! You're going to blame POOR PEOPLE for this mess?! You're a racist!" This, even though that is a large factor in the failure of many of these loans (that and the politicians who forced the banks to do it, and the banks who were stupid enough to follow along instead of relying on tried and true methods of qualifying borrowers for loans).

They’re afraid of being tarred with the “racist” brush,

Maybe that will happen, but if people really care about fixing this mess, it has to start with changing this policy. Otherwise, the same thing will just happen again and again. Ifthe American people want to live in a fantasy land, they can do it, but we will contine to pay the Piper. Of course, we may be stuck on stupid—the jury is still out on that one.

I have no respect for politicians who won’t fix problems due to political correctness.

I don't, either. But you know the mood of the country now with this "racist" crap. You've got Obama's legal goon squads out there threatening to pull the licenses of radio stations who tell "lies" (i.e., the truth) about the lousy creep.

FWIW, I prefer to go back to the old days of granting people loans and credit. I remember when I got out of grad school the first time back in the early 1970s and tried to get a Sears credit card (I liked Craftsman tools, and still do). I got turned down flat. Why? No credit history. I asked about it and they said it was their policy not to issue credit cards to anyone with no credit record. So I had to beg around and finally got a gasoline card to use, paid my bills, and built up a decent credit rating. Nowadays you've got companies literally throwing applications at people. My son, a recent high school graduate with no credit history and only part-time work on his record, gets offers in the mail all the time. Craziness, pure and simple.

"Their qualifications are worlds apart," said Bruce Tromp, 42, a software engineer from Springboro, near Cincinnati. "Biden has years of experience and is a skilled politician. Palin doesn't even seem to understand the issues, let alone be able to form an intelligent opinion on them."

Yeah, Biden doesn't even know what office he's running for, but boy, says he understands the plight of how "Bush policies" have hurt people because he's frequented a restaurant that's been closed for 15 years, says FDR was President in 1929 and gave a televised address, etc. but he's more qualified and intelligent than Governor Palin.

We've got a lot of really uninformed and politically ignorant people out there that cancel out of our votes, like this Bruce Tromp fella. He literally has no idea what he's talking about, but thinks he does.

Can you say tanking markets, and the incumbent getting the blame? Bush has been an unmitigated disaster!

The plutonium core of this financial mess is Fannie & Freddie
because they bought every sub-prime mortgage they could.
Dodd, Obama, Barney Frank were the biggest recipients of cash from Fannie & Freddie.
Bush & McCain are on record wanting to curb those excesses. Guess who protected Franklin Raines & Fannie & Freddie?
That's right the same DEMOCRATS.

Sorry, the whole of Washington DC is a swamp. There are none clean.

The fact that Palin comes from the farthest state from DC is one of her biggest assets.

“It is not only a matter of change, but change for the better, and Obama has the better chance of securing that change,” said poll participant Graig E. Kluge, 36, a Cleveland Heights real-estate investment manager....

If this guy gets what he wants, he’s goint to have to change his profession. Real estate will never recover under Barry’s leftist policies. This guy is a loser who lost a lot of people’s money and can only come up with blame Bush as an out. How do we get the message across to such stupid people?

This guy apparently got a small business loan from the Federal Government's Small Business Administration in 2005 for $10,000.

I wonder how that went.
