Interesting point you raise, pissant, though perhaps tangentially.

I suppose as part of any good Leftist’s ‘universal health care’ plan (AKA socialized medicine), they will have to legalize assisted suicides.

We can't have a bunch of rank amateurs out there trying to off themselves and failing. Way too big of an funding drain on the system.

Perhaps he had a burning desire to get in the news. He got what he wanted.

Named after its red brick paving stones.

Not to mention the politics that are favored at my alma mater.

"Red Square" is a section of University of Washington campus that has red brick covering the walk areas around some of the classroom buildings.

What's ironic is that it happens to be the roof of an underground parking garage, as well. Sort of a temple to the internal combustion engine, so hated by the leftists when I worked as a parking attendant in that garage in the mid 1970's, as well as today.

I’ll have to check the voters pamphlet - but I’m thinking that we have a “assisted suicide” thing up during election. I suppose it could be related to that. “See- here is a man with a terminal illness and he has to resort to setting himself on fire.....”

I’m thinking that this guy is probably wishing he had died as well. I can’t imagine the pain he must be in - hopefully he is comatose and doesn’t feel anything.

My son did a “news article” report on a factory explosion and fire last spring for school. A month or so ago I somehow noticed a brief article saying that one of the victims had died from his burns. I can’t imagine going months and months with severe burns like that.

How very Christian of you.

Can you point out to me, Chapter and Verse if you please, just exactly where Jesus said that I should be forced at the point of a gun to fund other peoples medical care?

They must have left that out of my Bible.

Apparently I have an old copy...

Thanks in advance.

Especially with a really high bridge so close.

Sorry, my compassion for someone who wants to commit suicide and make a spectacle out of themselves in the process is very low. ANd it doesn’t include me paying for his treatment

It is also quite an appropriate name for the University of Washington.

Not as much as you might think. The libertarians and Young Republicans are very active. During the early days of the war, when 60's retread profs were trying to demonstrate, they got very few takers. Kids in ROTC are treated with respect and walk around campus in uniform w/o harassment. There are many, many active religious groups.

That said, the Red Square thing freaked me out a bit before I moved out there, but learned it wasn't anything to worry about.

FOrtunately, most rank amateurs don’t burn themselves to death in front of hundreds of 18 year old kids at lunchhour. The socialized medicine bill for all the state paid therapists would get out of hand.
