He was a once-in-a-lifetime author IMO. What an imagination!

RIP.

That’s one of my favorite qualities of Michael Crichton’s novels; once I start reading, I go on a reading BINGE. I don’t stop until I’m done.

WOW, I have been avoiding the news to obvious reasons and had not heard this. What a tragedy.

He recently said that in 20 years Al Gore and his buddies would be revealed as complete idiots for their hysteria on Global warming. If I am still alive when that happens I will give Dr. Crichton a big shout out.

Bookmarked the link to purchase that book later in time.

Very sad news. He wrote real page turners, but they actually had some thought behind them. State of Fear is simple, fast-moving, readable, opinionated but not preachy, and altogether a truly excellent, thought provoking book (and it has a great ending...).

One of my personal favorites was ‘Disclosure’.
Terrific writer. RIP

Having worked in the Aerospace/Defense industry for 20 years, I thoroughly enjoyed Airframe. He really had insight into the industry and its internal politics.

Talk about just ruining a bad day. I met the man once and in person, he had the quiet reserve of a man who had sought truth wherever it led him; yet when he spoke to the large gathered crowd, he elevated, he enlightened, and he never, never bored. One of my heros has passed...

I enjoyed that book, very well done. The movie? *gack*

He was one of my favorite authors, and I didn’t even know he was sick. RIP.

one of his ex-wives was the actress on Sledgehammer. I think she and Crichton wrote the Twister screenplay together.

Terrible loss. I read Sphere when I was 8 years old and I've loved (most of) his work ever since. Jurassic Park was a defining pop culture experience for me as a kid (both the book and the movie). While on QRF duty in Mosul, Iraq, I picked up Prey off a bookshelf and read the entire thing in one sitting in just a few hours. It was impossible to put down. Plus there's his incredible "Aliens Cause Global Warming" speech that showed just how articulate and intelligent he was.

Mr. Crichton's passing is a true tragedy. I will miss what he brought to us all.

That’s too bad. I loved Jurassic Park, The Lost World, and The Andromeda Strain. Prayers for him and his family.

Time Line.

My fave too.

I agree, GREAT book, movie so-so.

But the movie was fun anyway, just to see some of the stuff from the book on screen.
