This will be done by muslims on British passports flown in for the bombings. Realistically train bombings are the only mass murder option terrorists currently have the ability to pull off. Something like this will happen in the U.S. It’s just a matter of time. And they will blame Bush when it happens!

Personally, I thought Obama’s offer to “negotiate with terrorists” might have been the impetus for the attacks and hostage taking in Mumbai. If they take Western hostages they are going to need someone to negotiate with, right?

I think that utterly clueless, neophyte, Curious George character is going to be up to his eyeballs in sh*t within seconds of the inauguration. It would be interesting if the terrorists chose Inauguration Day to launch their attack.

The easiest way to do this other than parking a large vehicle at a crossing would be to sabotage a freight train loaded with railcars of toxic or flammable chemicals, a torch to cut out a small section of track but leave an electrical jumper hooked up, or destoy a key bridge or tunnel.
Its also possible to hijack a locomotive.
For a widespread effect a truck bomb at the operations nexus would most likely disrupt all traffic for several states.

Here in Alaska immediately after 9/11 we had armed railcars with National Guard patrolling the tracks.

I’m not from a city that depends on mass transit (wish we had it, but our bus service isn’t even reliable.) Anyhoo, I understand the consequences of a subway attack, but what about the Amtrak attack (aside from the deaths it would cause)...a mass transit attack that would affect all train travel...how could that be? How would it disrupt things for any longer than it takes to repair/or lay more tracks, etc. (unless, I guess it was in the station itself?) I know I’m being naive, I just don’t understand the implications...could someone explain them to me.

How could Al-Queda do more damage to Amtrack then Amatrack’s own management does?

Wait a tick, maybe Amtrack’s management is Al-Queda.....

OMG, We've already been infiltrated......

How so?

Your comment doesn´t explain why everybody and their goat is trying to get here.

we are the laughing stock of the rest of the planet.

We're the sugar-daddy, too. Strange situation, isn't it? Doesn't look like it's going to "change" much, but we can "hope"......

>> Have we become too “civilized” to deal with murderous barbarians?

Yes. America has been seized with PC, with malignant hypertoleration, with fatal broadmindedness. America is bedazzled by its own PC, we are stupefied by this supreme virtue and so gripped by a narcissistic, mystical fascination with our PC-ness, we believe that we can coexist with mortal enemies as easily as walking through lava.

I agree - I think Obama’s been PLAYING President - Wait until he REALLY has to deal with grown-up terrorist situations!

All those that thought GW was/is stupid will come to know quickly - He WASN’T kidding!

How about a cargo ship full of fertilizer and fuel oil. Now call me silly, but I seem to remember that as far as "options" and mass murder, ya gotta use your imagination.

Football games, shopping malls, churches, parades, large factories, hospitals, bridges, ...... any place you can pull between a ton to a couple of thousand tons of fertilizer and fuel oil.... well you can hurt people.

The one that's going to get people a little froggy is when some muzzies strap some C-4 to their chests and walk around a mall... or decide on sniping.

but since Obama is in the "Office of the President-elect" , well he's having "meetings" and getting Biden's input on how he's going to protect all 57 of our states.

I’ll need to watch the tracks. Is it a federal crime for me to do so?

DO NOT point out any sweating, nervous Arabic men between the ages of 17 and 40 who clutch oil-stained backpacks to their chests......

........ or you will be sent to Political Correctness Education Camp.

If indeed Penn Station is the target, the damage could be severe, especially if an attack were to succeed in causing damage to the tunnels in which the trains run.

An example. In late Sept. 2001 a typhoon dumped 36 inches of rain on Taipei, Taiwan in a 24 hour period. A massive pumping station in one part of the city failed and flooded the subway line. That flooded subway line took 6 months to repair, and the tunnels were in tact.

A bomb that brings down even a part of the tunnel would take a long time to repair, and in a weakened economy, would have dire consequences—way past just the destruction of the economy.

Essentially when an entire region’s rail traffic passes through a single point, and when a major urban area’s subways also transit that single point, the impact of an attack on that point is huge.

“Al Qaeda may be targeting New York’s subways and railroads.””

This would seriously affect the free houses, cars, gas, drugs, lottery tickets, MD 20-20, beer, turkeys, burgers, shrimps, fried chicken, TVs, i pods, and vacation cruises all the obama voters are expecting.

If Al Qaeda terrorists have their way there will be chaos and mayhem here this holiday season, a mass transit bomb plot
If AQ wants to do this, bring chaos and mayhem, to the NYC transit system, all they have to do is place an operative on every third platform and ... LIGHT UP A CIGARETTE.

The NYC cops will be running around like a Chinese fire drill stamping out these DANGEROUS Cigarettes and writing tickets. And Blommie will demand the 82nd Airborne be brought in to round up the 'evil doers'.

Be ready for the outcry: "Bush fought the wrong war! He didn't get OBL and we are paying for it!"

I've already seen this talking point on the ABC news blog concerning the India attacks. Even that attack is all Bush's fault according to the libs posting there. Anyone that thinks we will not hear GW's name invoked for the cause of all evil for the next 4 years is naive. (Not implying that you are.)
