...We know how these thing go with breaking news.

Yeah; screw the facts, just report something.

As F Zappa said:
'N all the unconfirmed reports You know I watched that rotten box Until my head begin to hurt
From checkin' out the way The newsman say they get the dirt Before the guys on channel so-and-so And further they assert
That any show they'll interrupt To bring you news if it comes up They say that if the place blows up They will be the first to tell
Because the boys they got downtown Are workin' hard and doin' swell
And if anybody gets the news Before it hits the street, They say that no one blabs it faster Their coverage can't be beat

snip from

http://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/Report-Plane-Crashes-Near-UTC.html

The plane appears to have gone down in University Town Center near Interstate 805.

Aerials of the crash scene show debris in the street and most of one home destroyed.

The smoke is so thick at the corner of Huggins and Lipmann, that it’s making it difficult to breathe so some homeowners are voluntarily evacuating the area.

We are investigating reports that the plane’s pilot is stuck in the tree just west of 4400 Huggins.

MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR is a huge Marine Air base and home to the 3rd Marine Air Wing here in San Diego.

Have they ID'd it as a Marine from Miramar? There's also a naval air station at Coronado, as well as carrier-based planes all over the place around there.

My husband’s office was within blocks of this not too long ago. also in my MIL’s old neighborhood (she has passed away now).

I lived in Tierrasanta for awhile, and just about had an accident in the car when those jets flew over the freeway. Deafening.

FOX’s Shep Smith shouldn’t report anything except Bingo results.

It’s University City, just west of 805.

Doesn't sofaman live in La Jolla, a mile or two west of there? My brother is 3-4 miles north of Miramar. Prayers for those who've been hurt.

I feel safer in a fixed-wing aircraft. At least all the majority of parts are all trying to go in the same direction, unlike rotary-winged aircraft.

A lot of naive people still don’t realize that every time you take one of them up there are hundreds of things that could happen to bring her down.

What!?! 25 supersonic tons of metal and fuel in the air? What could go wrong? /s

Don't forget, built by the lowest bidder.

Hey I lived in Tierrasanta, too! On the street where some of my classmates were killed by unexploded ordinance several decades ago.

In my work I have to associate with a lot of very stupid people. Quite a few probably think that those things look like a ‘58 Chevy “under the hood” and believe that any high school kid could fly one in combat.

(while flying upside down 4 feet from another pilots canopy taking pictures too...)

Marine Jet from Miramar.

North Island Naval Air base also here in San Diego
doesn’t deal with that area.
It is along the bay and flys out along the Ocean

Does anyone know why all the News channels put up those huge banners at the bottom of the screen? That drives me insane! I watch TV for the visual, not to read a headline. The banners cover 1/3 of the bottom of my screen and often times completely covers up things we should be able to see, especially in unscripted moments like the crash of this jet.

If there is not really good reason for them, how do we get them removed, forever?
