Seen lots of freepers on both sides of the “Is Steele another RINO” issue, and even more who just don’t know. Being in the latter column, I decided to do some quick research and share the results.
My chosen topic is the 2nd Amendment. The results? Just look here: http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/2009/01/30/michael-s-steele-rnc-chairman-on-gun-control-and-gun-rights/
Well, he clearly doesn’t “get” the Second Amendment. That’s one for the “another d@mn RINO” column. Sigh.
OK, someone else want to tackle another issue?
Were there any at the top levels of RNC?
As head of RNC, I’d say that he defines Republican.
Now if he is what we’d have called a RINO, then that is the new definition of Republican and I’m gone forever and for good.
I’ve always been a RINO because I was too conservative to be a real Republican.
I beg to differ. I'd love to see Duncan Hunter running things!
Can I take a number and wait in line for this one.....after all, a guy's got to start somewhere!
Good. Bookmarked
Michael Steel cleaning the RNC house sounds good to me. Something is drastically wrong with the way the RNC has been running things for the last several election cycles and a fresh start is in order. My hope is that the vast amount of money spent on direct mailings by the Republican party would be justified by results obtained per mailing before one more appeal for funds goes out. Direct mail is useful but from the amount I received every day during this last election cycle I conclude that so much of it is redundant and therefore not likely a justifiable expense. IMO, Michael Steele has nowhere to go but up as concerns the RNC. From what I have read about his background, he is certainly capable of the leadership needed to get the GOP back on track.
I’m already in line, I got here first.
If I were Steele, I would have gone further and gave everyone there a "Glen Gary, Glen Ross" speech.
The RNC needs to get back the Haley Barbour/Jim Nicholson/Jim Gilmore types; fighting and doing grass roots.
I live in DC and I can tell you that Steele was the only one I saw courting conservative base groups; I know I saw him at the events.
I live here in DC and the only guy I saw hitting the bricks to conservative forums and courting their votes was Steele.
Well, maybe not Boston, but probably Butte or Boise.
Cheers!
