loose as a verb means release.
Remember in Braveheart the command to the archers to release their arrows is "loose"!

Pittsburgh, PA. The Super Bowl XLIII Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, the only team to win six titles, will soon be loosing half of those trophies. I think that this post is a few days early. April 1st is next Wednesday!
