>>>>> Beck’s brand of libertarian conservatism .... right-leaning commentariat openly doubt whether [it] is helpful to the Republican Party or the conservative movement at large. <<<<<<

“Libertarian conservatism.”

I didn’t know what to call Beck’s very admirable political worldview, but I’ll go with that, “libertarian conservatism.”

I’m hopeful that someday we can rally around this moniker, and as far as the “commentariat” goes, someday we should just hang them all (kidding, ostracism and shunning is enough).

When faced with the destruction of our way of life and freedom, Conservatives have the right to climb in the gutter where our enemies spawn and use their tactics back on them. We spent the past eight years listening to MSM-biased trash including name calling from Liberals. We’ve endured their lies and distortions. Nice guys come in last.

“Shrieking hysterically at Obama will do very little. Since it is a cult of personality his mythology must be attacked and dissasembled piece at a time.”

Well said. Somehow the right kind of light needs to be shined on the myth so that people see the monsters behind it.

One my chief complaints about Rush is his reliance on words that inaccurately describe what is going on. For example: Bill Ayers is not a radical leftist. He is a confessed communist and domestic terrorist.

So?...If talk show hosts such as Rush and political commentators like Horowitz are squeamish about using the words that fit, then they could do the following:

1) Define communism and fascism.

2) Plainly and clearly outline Obama’s programs.

3) Then let their listeners make the comparison and come to the only possible conclusion!

Our nation is heading in the direction of fascism and communism. Obama **is** working for government control over larger and larger percentages of our GDP. Obama is pushing for control of workers’ wages. Obama is organizing “mandatory volunteer” forces of youth that will equal the military.

Sorry....But any thinking person should be on a mental fascist and communist “red alert” by now.

Weenies indeed!

This is yet ANOTHER ploy to allow the messiah to dismantle our nation without a word of criticism.

I like both Beck and Horowitz (I have many of his books) and Beck is not name calling, he is making analogies that we can agree or disagree with. The name calling provides emotion relief but is counterproductive in public . For example Alan Keyes called elected republicans cowards for not calling Obama a Marxist. many Freepers loved this. But Keyes never won any election. That is extreme from many elected that say anything to get elected (like Obama.) But Keyes was apparently many Freepers model, lose EVERY election. Obama is destroying the country, but to substitute argument for name calling just gets the channel changed.

The two party system has failed. The test was 1994...and the Contract...we elected people we thought were conservatives who would change Washington. They became part of the problem.

I voted Libertarian last year...for lack of a better choice. Won’t vote Republican again unless they put forth conservative ideals and stand true to them.

Can there be such a thing as “over the top” criticism of Hussein & Co.? Yes. The nonsense about Mybelle “touching” the Queen, for instance. Or Hussein greeting the Saudi king.

But vigorous denunciation of his cult—and it is cultish, let there be no doubt—and the singular failure of the press to criticize this false Messiah is not “over the top”.

The connections between Saul Alinsky are also fair game. The arrogance of his victory, and the reliance upon teleprompters are also worth criticizing.

In a word, conservatives are for the most part (there can be exceptions, of course) pretty principled when it comes to opposing Hussein and his agenda.

I find it amusing the media wants to focus on the exceptions of the right wing, but refused to focus on how they are failing to hold Hussein to the same standards they lambasted upon Bush.

Hypocrites.

Yep, sometimes you have to go at it multiple times before you get it right. I bet there are a whole lot of Democrats who don’t want to see happen what is planned.

We should name ourselves the Constitution party, so we never forget. First order of business would be to collect up all the legal horsepower we can muster and form a conservative ACLU.

Calling him a communist and radical did not get McCain elected. In fact, those that call Obama names call the Obama lovers names.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Obama **is** a radical.

Obama **is** a communist.

Truth is not name calling. It is time for the left to be placed on the defensive.

If conservatives wasted a lot of time and energy explaining why Bush was NOT a war criminal, then it is is time for the left to explain why Obama is not a communist or fascist. However....in Obama’s case he is a communist and fascist so proving he is not will be hard for the left to do!

We must use Saul Alinsky’s techniques against them.

RE “Yes, he’s a former COMMUNIST and 60’s RADICAL...

....and has written many books of analysis on the subject. He is the expert. This is even more ridiculous. Calling Obama names for expanding many socialist policies that Bush started(which is giving him a free pass now)turns off the majority that worships Obama now. It is sad we have come back to the 2008 election argument “So what if our party is socialist? They are Marxists and that is WORSE”. This was repeated over and over November 2008 with not very good results.

better to explain why Obama is doing wrong, like Glenn Beck does.

The more you see, the more you realize conservatives need a new party.

I agree. And that's what scares them. They *know* they let us down. They know we're not playing around any more. They're scared that they're loosing us. ... and they have.

A conservative media outlet not dedicated to a religion, would be just as valuable as a conservative ACLU.

Fox had the right idea, but they’re more a tabloid now.

We need something like Rush, Glenn Beck or the staff at the Fox Business Channel, to take charge of a real news outlet.

Not BOR type talk show. Just news. 24/7.

Then your idea of a well-funded conservative legal action group like the ACLU, dedicated to protecting the US Constitution from constant erosion.

The absence of both, is a huge reason for the current mess.

More propaganda.

Ignore it, and the moles on this thread promote the narrative that we must be “reasonable”.

There’s nothing easier than telling the guy you just beat that he should forget the depths you plumbed to do so.

Believe your own eyes, your gut, your instincts.

They spent the last eight years engaged in a disgusting orgy of divisive political hatred and now they want to play nice and pretend we’re all united? When we asked them to unite for the country it was in the course of a shooting war with an enemy who would like to kill us all.

They told us to stuff it.

The Democrats have spent the last eight years blackmailing the country: give us power or we will destroy America. We’ll stab the troops in the back, leak classified intelligence, block George Bush at every turn, loudly protest and bring things to a halt, do our best to drive the economy into the ground and make this country a smoldering ruin until you let us win.

I will laugh at every stumble he makes, applaud his mistakes and cheer his enemies. These rotten bastards poisoned the well for the last eight years, and I want them to choke on it now. *No* bipartisanship, *no *compromise, *no* surrender *

Create doubt. Question his judgment. Support his opponents. Ridicule his errors. Mitigate his successes with suggestion of unintended consequences. Refuse to praise his work. Challenge his advocates when they advocate; don’t let them own the conversation.

This article is meant to intimidate, the “intellectuals” in DC are scared of what they have created.

Let’s make them sweat even more.

And that's what scares them.

Totally agree. Either the Republican party is going to come to us, or we are leaving them. Simple choice. The ZERO votes for the spending says progress is being made, no matter how small. I think a three party system would be far better for America than the choices between today's Tweedledee and Tweedledum parties. Marginalize the Democrats.

Glen Beck has caused FNC to kick it up ... The direction is promising. Combined with the 'talkers' it just might do it.

Agree with the religion component, not really a good idea for political parties. The separation thing turns many off right away.

Founded on first principles, nothing else.

You abolish your responsibilities, your surrender your rights.
