I think you’re missing the point entirely. When Frank was elected — and I imagine that every Jackson FReeper who voted in the dhimmi primary four years ago voted for Frank — we thought we were replacing an incompetent and corrupt mayor with the opposite. We did our best, but we got fooled.

I think it is time for Kenneth I. Stokes to step up to the plate...

I don't think you got fooled because up until he actually step into the role there was little indication he would perform so poorly.
Even his time at the MBN was not bad, despite his tendency for bravado and such.
But once he had power, whew doggies...

Yeah, Hawthorn answered it better than I. He did appear to show some promise at the start, but he was probably a bit too heavy on the “character” side of things (as in being one). He gave the joint atmosphere, but that was about it. Sadly, it looks like the crap old Mayor he defeated may be right back in again. Nothing ever changes for the better in so many of these places, and those that could make the positive changes have moved out of the city. Sane people who value law and order and their lives don’t stick around.

Say what you will about Mayor Frank Melton --- both accurate and opinion --- but I met Frank several times and I loved him. He drank a little too much, but if I had to deal with Jackson's City Council, I'm pretty sure I'd drink too.
R.I.P. dear Frank Melton.
