Elections have consequences.

And this point must be driven home to their workers by every non-unionized employer- large and small. Only when employees sense in their bones that increased government interference with business ownership will result in capital flight and threaten individual jobs, will we see a change.

The normal distribution of human intelligence is the fatal flaw in democracy. The Left exploits this matter of fact, 24/7. Only real consequences, felt by a critical mass of the population, can bring real change. We are in for a hard ride. As an English observer correctly wrote many years ago:

"Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one." (McKay)

Unless the Senate removes the language from the bill reauthorizing the Federal Aviation Administration, a mere dozen or so workers in just one city could hamstring much of the nation's overnight delivery service.

“The only way to clean this mess up is get rid of all of them and start over, shorten their terms.”

It is time for “We The People”, to rise up and take back our country from those who seek to flush it down the toilet. For too long we have allowed career politicians to ruin our country and erode our God given rights in the name of getting re-elected in order to pay back the special interest groups and the unions that support them. Every politician who has served more than two terms needs to be thrown out of office and banned for life from holding any other elected or appointed office in the public sector.
“We The People” are the ones who tell the government what to do, the government doesn't tell us.

Excellent post. Maybe you could send it to Obama and those turds on Capitol Hill. They have very obviously forgotten that.

Thanks.

It was part of a reply I sent to my local news paper after they ran an op-ed that whined about military spending. The guy was saying that military spending could be better used to provide healthcare for everyone, bail out people caught in the mortgage mess, and make “green” jobs.

My full reply is at the bottom of my profile.

Fred Smith is a wise businessman and is also ex-military. He has been a very successful at keeping the union out of Fedex Express. I do not believe he will surrender easily to tactics or pressure.

No, I am not going to cut it for you. I just tried to make a friendly suggestion. Mock the help if you are so inclined. I’m just a newbie trying to be helpful.

FedEx Express is not covered under the National Labor Relations Act like UPS is. Fed Ex Express (the overnight division that uses planes) is covered by the Railway Labor Act. Fed Ex explicitly keeps the ground and air companies separate solely for this exemption to the NLRA. UPS’s view is that FedEx is operating with a competitive advantage that they have not been classified as operating under the same set of government regulations.

That being said, unionization is not a death knell for all companies. UPS is one of the most profitable (highest profit margins in the transportation industry) and well run companies in the world.

Led by Rep. James Oberstar (D-Minnesota), the House on May 21 passed legislation that contains a hidden provision -- a mere 230 words -- that would hobble FedEx Express by completely changing the labor laws under which the company operates. Unless the Senate removes the language from the bill reauthorizing the Federal Aviation Administration, a mere dozen or so workers in just one city could hamstring much of the nation's overnight delivery service... It is a little-known fact that FedEx contracts with the U.S. Postal Service to carry almost all of its Express Mail and a large proportion of Priority Mail. FedEx delivers huge amounts of needed supplies for American military forces, and its service is just about the only way to guarantee that some lifesaving medicines reach patients overnight... The UPS corporate political action committee has "given more money to federal lawmakers than any other company over two decades," ...The Teamsters, who lean heavily Democratic, have donated $86,500 to Mr. Oberstar during that period... UPS trying to squash FedEx Express is like Goliath sitting on David...With the economy so shaky, this is the worst time for Congress to change the rules governing such an important facet of interstate commerce. The old wisdom should apply still: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
