Funny, I have a PhD in economics but have NEVER used Dr. anywhere.
Hey, it coulda been worse.
He coulda thought he was always in court, holding court,
and bristled at being called anything other than “Your Honor”.
Yet I’ve been in court and heard Judges being addressed both ways by lawyers, and seeming to be OK with it.
But yeah, there’s something basically wrong with someone
whose identity is so emotionally tied up with his title to
the exclusion of his basic human identity.

That would probably go right over her head.
If she thinks Ma’am is disrespectful, I would like to introduce her to a bunch of 1950’s Nuns and DI’s that pounded that fact into ‘our minds full of mush’
It’s one thing to use his title in a professional setting. It’s another thing at a backyard barbecue.
It was way too easy to pull his chain. I couldn’t resist the temptation.
I despise pretentious scumbags and go out of my way to sh_t on their egos.
Especially after a beer or two.
I figured it probably would go right over her head.
Then, a couple of days later, it would slowly dawn on her, or someone else would point it out.
And the General would have been screwed.
Hey....give B.B. a break ! All she wants is to be called what she is.....which is Senator. No problem, but she is also a P.O.S., a liar, a cheat, a lame-brained fool, a 1st class Bit.., a loose cannon, a stupid fool, and on and on. So feel free to call this idiot woman anything but Ma’am.
Makes me wish I was a neighbor and sharing a beer or two with you, and helping pull his chain conspiratorially as we figured out new verbal tactics 25 feet from the Weber, and got progressively more sloshed. There are some good judges, though, who couldn’t care less about their rather
dubious ‘titles’. THey’re usually run-of-the-mill local judges handling minor cases, but showing tact and , uh, “judgement”, and even-handedness. Too many of them are basically handmaidens of prosectors. Or handmaidens of agenda-driven defense lawyers. Too few are willing to be independent.
Well, so far despite her record the voters seem to think she’s representing them. It matters little what folks outside of her district think. It certainly casts the people in her district in a poor light.
Dear Senator Boxer,
Just when I thought the situation in Washington D.C.
could not get crazier, I see you on television
admonishing an Army general for not addressing you as
senator, rather than the polite, madam.
Senator Boxer, beside being an embarrassment to your
office and your state, you are petty and rude. I
normally give you some slack because I realize you are
not particularly intelligent, but I do expect a show of
common courtesy when speaking to a senior military
officer. But then, you never disappoint.
Sincerely,
Reply from her office:
Dear Friend:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the recent Senate hearing with Brigadier General Michael Walsh. I appreciate hearing from you on this matter.
Shortly after the hearing, I called General Walsh, and we had a friendly and productive conversation. We expressed our respect for one another and our determination to work together to protect our nation and communities from natural disasters.
Thank you again for writing to me. Please feel free to contact me in the future about this or any other issue of concern to you.
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator
..and we had a friendly and productive conversation...
“Once you have them by the ‘gonads’, the hearts and minds soon follow”......
What really bothered me was the “Dear Friend” salutation...grrrr.
Called "Thinking on your feet", which used to be considered commendable.
Also called “Discretion is the better part of valor”.
Also commendable.
“Hopefully we will be able to knock out Boxer come 11/2010!”
Only if you can convince everyone in Los Angeles and the bay area that the election is on Wednesday!
And the majority of the Liberal clowns in those cities are too lazy to get off their duffs to vote.
Tis a fine line, is it not? ;-)
‘Tis.
