If Palin is so unworthy as Frum says, he has nothing to worry about. Presidential primaries are gueling and whet out unworthy candidates quickly. No one is given the nomination. Just ask Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson. If Palin jumps into the Presidential race, she’s going to have to win it on her own merits.

Todd Purdum publishes a harsh piece in Vanity Fair... The 2008 campaign is over. The 2012 campaign has begun. Gov. Palin is a leading candidate for the Republican nomination. As much as everybody enjoys code-breaking the mystery of who blabbed, isn't the more urgent and important question: Is it true? Palin evokes a devoted response from a large following. In the mysterious soup of motives that sustains her supporters, enthusiasm for effective governance does not seem a very major ingredient. But you'd think they would at least care whether she could campaign competently. Purdum argues intensely that she cannot -- that a Palin candidacy would be the greatest self-inflicted disaster since George McGovern or Barry Goldwater.

There will probably never be as great a disaster as George McGovern. Goldwater never had a chance in 1964, but it is clear that LBJ never did either. :') He had to bring Humphrey aboard, and the price Humphrey had to pay was a steep one; LBJ's ad hoc payoff was the Voting Rights Act, EEO, the Civil Rights act, so-called public housing, Food Stamps, oh, and Vietnam. Lenny Bruce lampooned LBJ for all of it.

Unless Obama really screws the pooch regarding the Iranian mullahcracy -- he's already alienated the great middle, but they won't *really* be pissed until they get hit with the tax bill -- he'll win reelection in 2012, not least because of those who refuse to vote against him and instead ride with Sancho Panza.

The harshest attacks will come from the Country Club Republicans who have put this Party and country in the s*itter.

They are all cowardly power mongers and statists.

I’ll just say it again and again...the GOP will have a real conservative or they will not get my vote. They can blame me for 4 more of Obama...I don’t scare easily.
