Embarrassing and just wierd. But I think he learned his lesson. Obama uses this hand on the shoulder thing as a paternalistic hint. He wants to be supreme at all times.
Wow. There are more than a thousand words in this picture. Obama’s “look”, his PO’ed countenance, his almost smirk but one which seems to betray his seething anger. It is almost as if he is thinking, “Get behind me, woman”. “Where is your burka? What a small, arrogant, man.

Touching like that is a pure power play and display, as almost anyone who studies body language will say. E.g., in business, no junior associate walks up and puts his arm on the shoulder of ‘Mr. Big’.
And it seems as if that kind of patronizing one-upping is especially irresistable when dealing with powerful women. TO wit: Bush playfully massaging Merkel’s shoulders in a meeting, Obama with that kind of arm-shouldering, and even Michelle to Queen Elizabeth.
Obama does this all the time.
That is a very creepy look on his face.
I also believe she should invite George Bush to the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the Wall. The geroge Bush she should invite is George H.W. Bush (No.43). It was on his Presidential watch that the Wall came down and he was the VP under Reagan who is credited with Winning the Cold War.

I mentioned this on another thread. If I was a world leader, I would give advance notice to Obama's handlers that if he put his hand on me in such a fashion, I would make an obvious motion to remove it, and make sure the photographers were ready to video the moment. These "leaders" are missing a golden opportunity.
Didn't some Russians in a receiving line refuse to shake O's hand during this trip? Was that video buried?

Merkel is the only one “man” enough to have Zero’s number and not fall prey to his intimidating antics. I love her body language. It’s what I do with overly touchy, condescending people. Just sashay out of the way a little and increase the acceptable 18” (or whatever it is) personal zone of privacy. Her glare is priceless—wonder if it gets under his skin?

Current trouble between them apparently is that he wants to get the credit for saving the earth climate on this summit but she thinks she earned it.
Isn’t she the one that was creeped out when Bush touched her? So why is Obama touching her?
