Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell says troops already are under enough stress and making enough sacrifices in fighting the two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And he says Defense Secretary Robert Gates doesn't want to do add to that stress by taking away one of the few outlets they have to relieve it. Smoking lamp is lit.

I really get tired of always hearing that gov't or tobacco companies are getting people hooked on tobacco...Yea gads, people make that choice....No one gets :"Hooked" All that blather on addiction to tobacco started when the democrats started to go after big tobacco because they were not getting their fair share of tobacco money from the companies. Most went to republicans...
Back in the 40's cigarettes were called coffin nails and cancer sticks...occasionally called pimp sticks because they all smoked cigarettes...
It seems to be just another way to say a person is not responsible for their own actions...Its alway someone else that is the cause...

We ask our sons to go dodge bullets and bombs in foreign lands. But oh, smoking can be harmful to your health!
This country has lost its mind.

I thought that the current squatter soiling the Whitehouse gave up smoking, or was that just another BS story?I am sure he's smoking, what I'm not sure but he darn sure looks high half the time.

At Walter Reed, the people who make the rules first took away open containers of alcohol, about two years ago. Then, the one place our recovering wounded could smoke and still be covered (a breezeway between two buildings) was made smoke free.
Now, if you want to smoke, you have to stand int he elements. If you want to drink, you have to be off base.
Then after you get sick from the exposure, you can be charged as AWOL if you miss formation.
It’s coming. Just a matter of time before all legal vices are illegal and all illegal vices are legal and responsibility-free.
