I agree entirely with your comments, and think that in general probably the majority of elected officials are less qualified than if they were picked at random off the street (not an overstatement IMO). I certainly don’t think there is any racial, ethnic, gender or other identifier that is exempt from supplying us with congressional jackasses, as you put it. Barney Frank, and Pelosi, for example, are despicable. I just think that we’ve gotten to the point at which minorities in elected office can get away with saying almost anything, no matter how racist or egregious. When there is a double standard for what one can and cannot say, based on race, that is racism.
