Not everyone who can’t afford their prescriptions is a MORAN. Some of us even use the Walmart plan. The Walmart plan covers a lot, but does not cover hundreds of medicines that are absolutely necessary to keep people alive.
I get scripts at Walmart for 3 of my eight monthly prescriptions following a stroke. I don’t qualify for Medicare (too young) or Medicaid (got a house).
Three of my other scripts run between 20 an 40 a month. One costs $1180.
They are a;; generics, and the cheapest I could find when working with my physician. Cheapest, not most effective.
But when you run your own business, that’s what you have to do.
If I don’t take them , I can’t work or I croak. That won’t feed the family.
And I can’t get health insurance because of “’pre-existing conditions” so everything -including the hospital stay after my stroke - is out-of-pocket.
I’d really appreciate being able to get health insurance, That’s the sort of health care reform I’d appreciate.
Un that $180 for one, not $1180. That would be a mortgage payment!
Dim astroturf ping
If you are with an organized group and have some with video-cameras, have one person set up so that all they do is take shots and video - no signs, chants, or other activities for them. You need to have a solid reference to get back to in case needed, and if the videographer is paying attention to the activities by joining in they will miss vital activities.
Stay safe, stay strong, stay ACTIVE.
Now I completely understand the price of some drugs. One I take used to cost over $225.00 for a 30 day supply before the patent expired and it went generic. And when it was Brand Name I could rarely afford it and 'lived' with the pain - which wasn't easy, its nerve pain (like sciatica but x105). The retail price dropped to $35.00 and with Part D it's $7.00. So now I can afford it and the pain is gone - mostly. And that drug is in addition too anther Rx I NEED for pain and that one is $115.00 for the Generic, but with Part D its $7.00.
And I threw out Wal-Mart as an example of another option of what's available now to save on Rx money, like for my BP meds which is now $4.00 there. That doesn't even go through Medicare Part D. (that just 3 of the Rxs I have to take)
Additionally for the real expensive, $1000.00 Brand Name drugs, most states have programs for assistance with that. Plus the drug companies themselves have programs for people who can't afford their drug.
His rant was the old Al Gore grandma eating dog food crap.
I unfortunately don’t know about Medicare Part D since I won’t qualify for a long time (if I make it that long, LOL) . But it sounds like one “government-run health care” I could really see some benefit from. Glad you’re getting some relief and help.

(Snip)”...and then parlaying political victory on government-run health care “to move our ACORN agenda (or at least part of it) with key electeds that we might otherwise not be able to pull off.
THE OBJECTIVE, IN OTHER WORDS, IS TO PIGGYBACK AND EXPLOIT OBAMACARE TO IMPROVE AND PROTECT THEIR POLITICAL HEALTH. THE “GRASSROOTS” MOVEMENT IS NOT ABOUT REPRESENTING MAIN STREET. IT'S ABOUT PEDDLING INFLUENCE AND POWER AT 1825 K STREET.” (Michelle's words..My emphasis.)
