A montage of all presidents from George Washington to present would make good sense.

I remember every president from Carter on being in the room, and we said the pledge.

His picture is going up in every government facility where Bush was not displayed in the lobby.

When I went through school, there was always a picture of the current POTUS up on the wall, so I see it as no big deal to have one of the current POTUS up *now*...as long as when the *next* POTUS is elected, *his/her* picture is swapped in it’s place, within a couple of weeks of the Oath of Office being taken by the next POTUS.

I wonder what would happen if someone suggested that it be accompanied by a picture of Ronald Reagan, whose accomplishmnents to those with actual knowledge would surely be more inspiring than the zeo accomplishmenents of the One — well accepted for getting elected by affirmative action sentiment.

Didn’t we used to have pictures of the president in the schools? At least some of us when we were younger. Anybody see “Porky’s” with the picture of Ike? Anybody remember Ike or am I the oldest one on this thread?

Gee, is this more like:
1. Hitler's Germany
2. Stalin's Russia
3. Kims' (all of them) DPR of Korea
4. Mao's China
5. Castro's Cuba
6. Attaturk's Turkey
7. Amin's Uganda
8. Nehru's India
or some other place low on freedom and high on the "cult of personality"?
To: KrisKrinkle
I was in school during Eisenhower, but I was pretty young, was more interested in marbles than pictures so I don’t remember:)

Yup, back during the Bush days, teachers and Lefties were trying to get pictures of the president OUT of the schools.

I went to a US Courthouse this week to serve on a jury, and in the lobby was a picture of Dear Leader. It made me sick to my stomach. Then I had to put up with security guys mumbling behind Plexiglas as I made my way to the metal detector, which was set much more sensitive than any airport I have been in. It took a whole lot of my willpower to bite my tongue and go through the process without getting arrested. I really thought about leaving and telling the court system to screw off. I really, really hate being subservient to the State.
I simply cannot get accustomed to what America has become...

I think a fair argument could be made that it is reasonable in a military setting. The President, whoever that may be, has Constitutional authority as Commander-in-Chief of the military. I see no parallel for leadership of local educational districts, however. That has always been a matter of local control. There is no federal authority (yet). So, for now, I’d prefer not to see pictures of sitting Presidents in classrooms. An exception might be for historical recognition. IIRC, many of my classrooms back in the ‘50s and early ‘60s had portraits of Washington and Jefferson, but I always interpreted that in the historical context.
