Like their electronics, Jaguar paint was not the best in the 1950s and 60s. The white on the 150 was dappled and milky when the car was five years old. Ditto the gray on the Mark.
I painted the '57 Mk VII a nice two tone brown/light brown based on a photo from a Jaguar book. It took a couple of passes along the fender to get the paint right; no chrome strip to hide an imperfect line.
Ladies in Iowa City thought it was a Rolls. I never corrected the impression.
