He’s not a conservative so it makes sense that he’d support it.

A tax on the miles you drive could be a way to pay for Texas roads in the future. The tax on each gallon of gasoline does the same thing, with the added feature of taxing owners of fuel efficient cars less, and owners of less fuel efficient cars more.

The guy who’s all for this should be drummed out of the Republican Party. I would be really surprised if this flies in Texas.

Sure the are. I have government tax (state, federal and local) on my electric bill, my natural gas bill, so I would believe that they are all taxed.

But they aren’t taxed for their effect on road use.
To: dusttoyou
KBH is not as conservative as we’d like, but it will save Texas some embarrassment if Perry is out of office when he gets Blago’d.

I think they should put a meter on his wife’s pu$$Y and tax her on the number of engagements she has in that area. About 30 cents per gallon should do it.

What I want to say is - so?
The government knows if you have a non gas car, there could always be adjustments on your bill.
The biggest issue as far as I am concerned is that it is not the governments business how much I drive. If they are going to tax how much I drive, they can tell me how much I can drive......according to the Constitution the government can not restrict my ability to travel.

Did you listen to Debra Medina on the debate? Not being a polished professional politician and she stll sounded very confident in her very conservative positions.
I was considering Perry as KBH has drifted too much left in her years in DC. Then I watched Medina and am certainly leaning that way now. She specifically said the State must cut spending.

I would definitely vote for Medina if I lived in Texas.

Im skeptic, this is anti Gov. Good Hair, probably leaked (again) by KBH herself. I'm not so sure, but you may be right although I heard about this on WOAI 1200AM going to work about two weeks ago, it was hashed over pretty well. The talk show team was speaking of various ways to accomplish this monitoring. By requiring GPS units to be installed, etc. You know all the info GPS units can record besides miles; stops, locations, times, dates, the data is endless.
The talk show hosts were not happy believe me.
This is a bureaucrat's wet dream and don't think they are not supporting this idea, that's why they MUST be removed and to demonstrate how serious we are.

Wouldn’t a “per mile” tax on a toll road be akin to double taxation? Of course, a “per mile” tax on a toll road while paying gas taxes is triple taxation. Don’t expect the government to see any problem with triple taxation.

Please don’t give NY any ideas!!! our gas tax already is included in the amount for the sales tax calculation - tax on top of tax!
To: brushcop
Valid point (yes I listen to WOAI), last I checked a GPS does not know where you are, only where it is. I found this out the hard way when I thought-HEY-can't yall find my stolen Garmin? The answer was no, but I wouldn't put nuthin past Perry, KBH or Zero for that matter.

I35 congestion in New Braunfels, only occurs when people from San Antonio (who can't drive) drive on it, oh wait. Perry's TTC (Trans Texas Corridor) was a great idea, but had KELO implications (confiscation of private property) that I was very uncomfortable with.
She needs some spit and polish and maybe shell be ready in a few years.
Couldn't agree more. about Medina. Not ready for Prime Time-YET. Hopefully soon. (better the devil we know, than the one we don't)
