Because George Bush made people so angry they just vote against "the establishment." Obama was against George Bush (the establishment) and Brown was against the Massachusetts Democrat machine (also the establishment), so Brown is in sync with Obama. As per Eric Clarified.
Man, that is some industrial-strength spin. I'll bet he couldn't keep a grin off his face, though.
The audacity of Obama’s spinners truly is something.
Here’s the poll and if you look at the results it’s pretty clear the voters were against Obama’s policies and health care in particular: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/22/AR2010012203167_2.html?sid=ST2010012203176
You can click through to the full results from that page, and the question Gibbs et al are spinning into a fig leaf is whether the Brown voters want him to simply stop all health care reform completely — or work to get Republican reform ideas put into it instead. Saying they want him to push Republican health care reform is not in any legitimate interpretation support for Obama’s plan. The only other possible result they could try to spin their way is the Brown voters saying their vote was against Obama’s policies and that it wasn’t about Obama personally. I’m paraphrasing there, but clearly those polled were stressing the actual policies they were against—and that they were against Obamacare more than anything.
It is only because of the sorry lapdog state of the MSM that Obama’s spinners would even attempt the bald-faced lies about this poll that they were largely allowed to state with impunity.
Publius and I are poring over The Federalist Papers, which is why this thing is giving me the now-classic thrill up the leg. These pretentious little nonentities aren't a ruling class, they only think they are, and the smart ones have heard rumblings that scare the pants off them. As it should be. Go ahead - lie, cheat, twist arms, bribe, use every parliamentary trick available. Jam it down our throats. See what happens. Somewhere a bunch of guys in wigs are smiling grimly, because they've played this game, and they set it up so we can play this game too.
They’re hell bent to pass it into law because they believe we can’t get it repealed and dismantled.
If the White HOuse wants civil war in America, then push it.
Give America the show of tyranny it so deserves for electing this parasite in as president.
If Gibbs said that with a straight face he needs a one way ticket to the funny farm.
The democratic spin machine has warped him. He doesn’t know up from down, right from left or in or out.
I’m sure his Cadillac health care plan will get him years of help !
I spoke with a man who supports Obama a few hours ago who knows the guy is in trouble.
I explained to him that the only way Obama can win elections this year is to move to the center.
I suggested Obama take advice from the slickmeister Bill Clinton.
But with statements like this coming out of the WH there can only be two explanations.
They have to maintain denial so their supporters don’t jump off the ship.
And or they don’t give a d^^n about what people think or how they vote, they’ll sink the ship to get what they want.
PS. Denial was also the theme of a broadcast on PBS Friday hosted by Bill Moyers. It was a one hour special that prempted regular programming. That spooky broadcast reminded me of the crap Castro and Chavez put out on their government channels in Cuba and Venezuela.
How many of them were named Ellie Light or Mark Spiven?
Cheers!
WTF are these people smoking?! They're starting to *believe* their own spin. Good grief.
They will push it, because tyranny is what they want.
They can weigh options all they want on this matter of ObamaCare.....many of us have already made up our minds and are going to weigh their collective arses out of office come Novemeber and 2012.
Odumbass is soooooooooooo disappointed. The pathological narcissist had planned on using that in his state of the union speech. I think he will postpone the speech or they will ram it through this week. He doesn’t realize doing that will seal his fate and people are just going to reject all of the health care taxes, etc. and tell him to FO.
If what Gibbs says is true, that means the a vote for Coakley was a vote against Obama...LOL! I guess in Gibbs’s mind, a vote either way was a show of support for Obama. So next November when the dems lose the house and senate they can say again it was a vote for Obama. And when Obama is thrown out of office in 12, they can say it was a vote for Obama.
I am more convinced that Obama only wants one term. He probably thinks that 400,000 for the rest of his life is worth just doing one term. Think about it...he does not care about polls, he is trying hard to piss people off. I think the writing is on the wall.
Please let them try to jam this one through. In response I expect to see every republican make this announcement:
Send this message loud and clear to all you know. If you hate the idea of govt run Obamacare, refuse to vote for another democrat in any office anywhere until there are no more democrats in any public office anywhere or they finally start listening to us.
Then and only then will they get the message.

Excellant post Bill...love it!
With that reasoning then Gibbs would have to agree that Obama was elected because people wanted to show their support for George Bush.
Makes perfect sense if you took a lot of drugs at one point in your life.

believe it or not Gibbs, Obama is not the center of the universe,
its nothing personal against Obama, it's just his Alinsky policies and lack of leadership that make him the worst president ever and the laughing stock of the world
