The Southern Poverty Law Center does these “studies” periodically to hype a “danger” and thereby boost their fund raising. As a matter of fact, ANYTIME there is a significant spike in grassroots conservative activism it becomes a “danger” in the opinion of the SPLC.
The report by the Southern Poverty Law Center said 512 anti-government Patriot groups were active in the United States last year, a leap from 149 in 2008.
Looks like they more than TRIPLED to me. 512/149 = 3.44
The Southern Poverty Law Center is a well-known Marxist-Leninist propaganda outfit. When they set up, they pretended that they were going to help the poor in Apalachia, but their real aim was community organizing and propaganda.

Keep in mind, this is their version on bigotry. They're busy little bees and branch off into other activist opportunities. They're trying their best to sign up folks that live in the area of the Kingston Ash Spill (TVA). Folks in this area pretty much told them to butt out. They still trespass onto TVA property and make sure cameras are there when they're arrested and escorted out. They are firm followerers of Alinsky's rules.
