Find some nobody who can be publicly portrayed as a leading “conservative” or other “opponent” of your views (I never saw or heard of Kathleen Parker until she started criticizing Palin and was all over the MSM doing it), then build her up with repeated appearances and columns in your favorite newspapers. She becomes the darling of the left, makes money bashing those supposedly on her political “side”, shows you are willing to print “opposing” viewpoints from leading “conservatives” and like Russ Douthat, David Brooks, and David Frum, act as very useful Charlie McCarthy’s for your Edgar Bergen.
