I have a friend who was raised in Alaska and told me exactly why the caribou loved that plant: It raised temperatures in the area by a few degrees and the elevated pipeline provided the only shelter on the treeless tundra during calving season. The shelter plus the residual heat often made the difference between the calf surviving and not surviving.
The gathering of caribou had an additional benefit to the environment-- lots of poop on an otherwise infertile tundra. The poop gave off additional heat and provided nutrients for additional plant life which provided food for the caribou when they gathered again for the next spring calving season.

These turkeys were in town, of course its a very small town. (You can see into the country from anywhere in town) My Mom lives in her childhood home in a little village just outside the Manistee National Forest. When I grew up there it was rare to see a turkey but now there are at least five LARGE flocks that roam the area. They walk right through town and my Mom's yard.
Black Bears, which I had never seen before except once in the Lower Peninsula, now wander into her yard and walk through the village.

I'm about 10 miles SW of Jackson and have a flock of around 70 living on my property.
They are up in my yard all the time.

I have a friend near Lewiston Michigan who sees a couple of black bears every year now. He said he got up one morning and opened the shades and there was a black bear only a few feet away trying to get at the goodies in the hummingbird feeder.

The environmental movement has nothing to do with the natural environment. It is a Marxist subterfuge aimed at establishing central control of every aspect of human existence.
In nearly every instance human activity has resulted in a proliferation of the nature system. The best example is carbon emissions. Not since the carboniferous period has plant life seen the ascendency it is experiencing today.
Fascist enviro wackoes must be discredited once and for all.
Sarah is just the gal to do it.

What these libs fail to appreciate is that only a rich country can afford to worry about the environment. Only a wealthy nation can set aside valuable agricultural land for forest preserves. Only a nation with excess wealth can afford the inefficiency that comes with environmentally friendly manufacturing. Yet with their “War on the Rich” the left is forcing our society to become less environmentally friendly. Some of the worst environmental disasters in history are the third world nations that burn their forests to the ground for grazing, or the Soviet Union that polluted their rivers and air in order to keep inefficient state run businesses running.

What happened to the Aral sea under the soviets is a good example. They diverted all the water to farming and left the people of the region screwed. Not to mention, left some old bio warfare labs exposed
