True, but there's more. These wolf cull programs (which have been used in Alaska and Canada's north for decades) also help preserve the wolf population. Prior to a cull, the predator and prey species are locked in a (literal) death spiral. After the cull, the prey species rebounds — and the predator (wolf) species also rebounds, to a healthy sustainable population.
