There were over 3,000 delegates to the convention, elected at the local level open to anyone.
Toast it is........
A second round of voting was triggered because no candidate had secured 60 percent of the vote. The second round showed Lee at 37 percent and Bridgewater at 35 percent ahead of Bennett, who received 26 percent, dropping the senator off of the third round of voting.
Lee and Bridgetwater will face off in a third round. If neither achieves 60 percent of the vote, they will face off in a June 22 primary, the winner of which is expected to have an easy path to victory in the fall in the right-leaning state.
Ditto...
Dude just can’t accept defeat and that he’s no longer the chosen one.

Bennett told The Associated Press after the first round of voting that he wouldnt rule out a write-in candidacy if he loses. State law prohibits him from getting on the ballot as an independent.
Im not making any commitment of any kind. If Im eliminated, Im going to go home and get a good night sleep. Thats the only commitment Ill make, he said.
Cornyn’s going to be furious.
It is good news when what I had hoped would happen actually did happen.
The RINO’s are in our crosshairs.
Good news! What’s the pitbull angle?
I don’t know enough about Bob Bennett. What are conservative’s major gripes against him?
WOW!
Didn’t Mitt Romney lay a lot of political capitol on the line for this guy’s reelection?
Interesting question -- it sort of supposes that unless a politician does something horribly wrong, he's entitled to stay in office until he dies. Bennett never did anything terribly wrong, he's just been a milquetoast guy who has been around too long.
It sounds as though the GOP is thinking about becoming an opposition party to the DemocRATS in this country. Cool idea. Republicans need to realize that Americans are tired of them ALWAYS dropping their drawers and “reaching across the aisle” to the commie ‘RATS. America is on the brink. This might be a good time for Republicans to wake up and do something to help us save the country.
And Governors if you count Crist.
They just love the power. Ask Arlen Specter. Is there anything he wouldn’t do or say in order to stay in the U.S.Senate.
Glad to see those two fossils leave the Senate. Hatch and McCain might be next.
Mittens couldn’t beat Juan McDemocrat in the 2008 primary. The fork was stuck long ago.
Bennett just collects his paycheck. You never see or hear from him between elections.
Hoo Ray!!!!!
lol
Ping
Good night’s sleep and a nice retirement.
Gosh, those imcumbents just can’t retire gracefully....
