If you recall, Bennett stood up to applaud Barack Obama when Obama's safety net, his teleprompter, delivered to him word for word an unprecedented and undignified attack on Governor Palin during an address to a joint session of Congress last September. Hopefully after today, last September will be one of the last times that Bennett will ever be able to stand and applaud an extreme and radical partisan like Barack Obama as a member of Congress.
Lets get McCain too.
Conventions are cool. Better than Primarys. Especially open primarys.
That would be nice but all the polls show McCain with a pretty big lead.
Please change to queen of hearts.
Just a few Republicans joined Democrats in applauding President Obama’s debunking of the “death panels” claim during his healthcare speech Wednesday, but which GOP members they were might be telling.
GOP Sens. Olympia Snowe (Maine), Susan Collins (Maine), Robert Bennett (Utah) and Judd Gregg (N.H.) stood up and clapped when Obama dismissed the suggestion that Democratic healthcare reform would lead to “panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens.”
“Now, such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible,” Obama said. “It is a lie, plain and simple.”

JD doesn’t have money. He needs to have money to get ads on to counter McCain. McCain is so well known and he’s putting millions into ads to convince Arizonans that he has ALWAYS been against amnesty. How is JD supposed to fight that?
I just heard Bennett on Fox News say with one or two exceptions he’d vote the same way he has, even if he knew it would cost him is “career.” That last word is the problem. We need to get back to government “by the people” and stop with the notion that politics should be a career.
Charlie Crist had an insurmountable lead over Marco Rubio and look how that one turned out!
Reminds me of a scene in an old John Wayne Western where the Duke grabs this guy by the shirt and the guy protests saying I didn’t do anything.. The Duke pops him hard in the face and says welll you should have....
To the surprise of nobody, Senator Bob Bennett did not survive the second round of voting at the Utah GOP convention. He will not represent Utah as a Senator in the next Congress. It doesn't seem as if Mitt Romney's endorsement was worth very much even in Utah. Marc Ambinder has already speculated that Bennett may join the Obama administration.
His pitch was that you are taking a risk by going with no-name conservatives against the Dems. Pretty lame.
I wish they could do the same to Sens. Grahamesty and McMainiac.
I watched the same interview and it left me perplexed. Like his other fossils= colleagues, Bennett doesn’t understand that voters are tired of incumbents.
Latest Rasmussen poll.
Election 2010: Arizona Republican Primary for Senate
Arizona Republican Primary for Senate: McCain 47%, Hayworth 42%

5% is not a “pretty big lead”.
The poll is from April 16. I don’t know why Rasmussen hasn’t polled again.
