I wonder who footed Zer0’s bill when he got his free ride through college? His Dunham grandparents (Madelyn Dunham become one of the Bank of Hawaii’s first female vice presidents) forked out money not only for him, but their daughter, Stanley Ann. And that money came from the Golden Goose of Capitalism.

Thank you! Hope your "friends" enjoy Van Dyke. The words to a favorite hymn, "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee," were his also, as well as "Four Things."

A teacher posted "Four Things" on our homeroom blackboard and memorize.

FOUR things a man must learn to do
If he would make his record true:
To think without confusion clearly;
To love his fellow man sincerely;
To act from honest motives purely;
To trust in God and Heaven securely.

Henry Van Dyke

They did! One of my closest girlfriends called me after reading it and decided she is going to print and frame the entire poem then hang it. I think I might do the same. Of course I have very patriotic friends so I expected them to appreciate it.

We are battling an insidious mindset. I had a discussion with a young lefty today who declared that “History has shown that Capitalism is unsustainable”

Strange, history showed me that capitalism is sort of a default. Even in supposedly socialist/communist countries, capitalism thrives in black market form. Heck, even school kids use capitalist principles without realizing it when they swap lunches (i.e.:"I'll trade you my apple for your brownie?")

Very true. Market economies of some fashion exist at some scale nearly everywhere. If the lefty’s argument is one of resource management, then have I some disasters to discuss from the Soviet Bloc and other Communist nations.

“Strange, history showed me that capitalism is sort of a default.”

Capitalism is not some economic “system” to be promoted or “allowed.” Instead, it is the natural state of ALL economic activity. Any attempt to deviate from the natural state results in devestation.
