These continuing calls for Washington to fulfill our spiritual duties is absurd and sickening.

While I detest ideas such as "faith based initiatives" and all forms of government welfare, especially those channeled through religious institutions. I am also not a fan of "separation of church and state". No, Washington cannot love our neighbor for us but Washington is subject whether it believes it or not. Congress cannot establish a state religion but the Church has a duty to constantly communicate Christ's commands to the people and to judge and prophesy when the leaders of the state are violating them (ex: Nathan, John).

I did not mean to imply that you agree or disagree. I'm just contributing.

No King but Jesus.

Charity at the point of a gun is not charity.

Exactly! All legislation imposes some form of morality but love cannot never be imposed or required, it comes from God alone.

1 Corinthians 13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

re: The Christian answer to the question “Are we our brothr’s keeper?” is decidedly “Yes.” This is the base of the Wallis heresy.

"I am not my brother's keeper. I am my brother's brother." is the answer from libertarian Christians and orthodox Christians, and libertarian and orthodox Jews also."

God asked Cain a question. Cain responded by changing the subject and presenting the strawwman phrased as "Am I my brother's keeper." The Wallis theology is based on that straw man created by the first genocidal murderer. The argument for slavery was that we are our brother's keeper. The slaver owner in theological heresy thought the Christian duty was to be a kind slave owner to his people. The current advocates of slavery use the same logic. They argue that it is every man's moral duty enforceable by the IRS to take care of his fortunate brother. They invent well intentioned government programs funded by the IRS to enforce that slavery of kindness. For them the Christian duty is to create a government that forces every one to practice their heretical brand of Christianity.

Jesus taught that we should take care of the poor and weak.

Nowhere in the Canonical Gospels did He ever say that Ceasar or Pontius Pilate or Nancy Pelosi should do it.

“Render unto Caesar that which is his...”
