This country is at war. Anyone who calls for the defeat of our troops at war is a traitor!

“”This was a war of Obama’s choosing,” said Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee. “This is not something the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in.”

Did he join Code Pink; or hire Bill Ayers to write for him?

Traitor? Strong words there. Did you think that Hannity, Rush, and Delay were "traitors" for opposing Clinton's War in Kosovo. If not, you are not to be taken seriously. Heck, a majority of the Republicans (mostly conservatives) in the Senate voted to cut off funds for the bombing while U.S. troops were in harm's way.

BTW, Steele didn't call for "defeat" of the troops. He only pointed out the obvious reality that Obama's nation-building war is bound to fail. As to your point about French support for the U.S. I disagree. Without French support it would have been a longer and bloodier war (probably with more reliance on the militia) but the Americans would have ultimately prevailed.

It WAS a war of Obama’s choosing. He supported it from the beginning and sent even more troops in that quagmire.

Sadly, it seems that many on FR cannot even have a rational discussion on the war in Afghanistan.

It brings to mind the Federalist congressman who lost his seat when he voted against the War of 1812 and when returned to office stated he had learned his lesson, he now would always vote for war, famine and pestilence

Agreed. Ironically, only ten years ago, an antiwar position was considered quite respectable among conservatives. Many of us felt perfectly in the mainstream here when we criticized Clinton on Iraq and Kosovo.

Unfortunately this did not do the Federalists much good. As a result of their treachery they ceased to exist as a national political party in less than two years after the end of the war. The country adopted the famous statement of Stephen Decatur: “Our Country! In her intercourse with foreign nations may she always be in the right; but right or wrong, our country!”

And a poor foreign policy can destroy a nation as fast as a poor domestic one.

Often our greatest leaders had stood against misdirected wars, Lincoln for example, questioned the Mexican-American war.

Now, if anyone has a definition of what they would consider victory in Afghanistan, and how we are going to obtain it, please let me know.

‘Lincoln for example, questioned the Mexican-American war.’

And the party which joined him in that position ceased to exist five years after the war. Lincoln wasn ‘t able to win an election for a dozen years after he took that position. These days those who would return the territory we gained in that war to Mexico tend to be spokesmen for LaRaza. I take it you are part of that crowd?

First, the Whigs disappeared due largely because of their division over slavery, and the Republican Party grew out of it.

Second, this is a discussion on questioning the commitment of troops in Afghanistan, not the Mexican-American war

Third, your last comment is so stupid it doesn't even deserve a reply.

Fine, i know what a luddite is...that description of you went way over your head.

Go ahead, cut and run. It is just frustrating as you don’t respond to any points, just keep repeating yourself. you have nothing to offer to substantiate your points.

join cindy sheehan...that really is where you belong.

Steele will resign 30 days before the November elections, calling the RNC “RACIST” Obama will offer him a job.

While I might think the odds of this 'scenario' are less than 50/50, it is certainly not implausible ...

“I’m very proud of Barack Obama to do what he has done

Maybe so, but the odds are scary to say the least, wouldn’t you agree?
