Q: How can you identify important people in the Obama Administration?
A: By the tire tracks on the back of their heads.
Ol’ Tom has to be the nerviest, most decisive Ag Secretary ever. Wow! Grabbing the bull by the horns and and firing a BLACK woman subordinate without so much as mulling it over with his own BLACK superior first! And Tom had to be aware the BLACK Atty. General was under orders to not go after possible BLACK transgressors in another situation. Double wow!! Hey, he deserves a raise just for showing an aptitude for sheer, gutty, quick handling of problems.
That would be a great tagline. May I?
Both he, and the White House said they were standing by the decision to oust. Exact timing should not be assumed from the news report.
USDA worker pressured to resign over race comments - Houston Chronicle
The NAACP, which initially condemned Sherrod's remarks and supported Sherrod's ouster, joined the calls for her to keep her job. The civil rights group said it and millions of others were duped by the conservative website that posted partial video of her speech on Monday."We have come to the conclusion we were snookered ... into believing she had harmed white farmers because of racial bias," said the statement from NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous.
A White House official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said President Barack Obama was briefed on the matter after Sherrod's resignation and stands by the Agriculture Department's handling of it.
Is Vilsack a Furry?
Sherrod's story is that she was told the White House demanded her resignation.
Then they stood buy the decision. Then they reversed.
Shoulda hung out my sarcasm sign. Sorry.
Please do. I sent it to the local paper, but they didn’t use it. Now I will be “published” after all.
Too funny! I bet one of Bambi’s advisors told Vilsack to get rid of her...and he should have, because no matter what she says, she is a raving racist and was talking about the fact that it was obviously her policy not to help whites. Out of the goodness of her heart, she handed him over to “one of his own.”
If a white person had said this, he’d be in jail now.
Good grief, I am embarrassed for the president.
Yes, of course Tom Vilsack did it all of his own accord, trashing civil service procedures and not taking even a few hours, let alone a few days to get all sides of the story. Sure, I believe that.
We should all be tearfully grateful. America now has a low-rent successor to the sainted Rosa Parks. Of course Shirley Sherrod will turn down any Ag reinstatement as she can now spend the rest of her life on the lucrative speaking tour, socking it to college audiences, democrat gatherings, black congregations (Uh Huh! Right on! Testify!) and certainly the NAACP who now can’t do enough for her and will no doubt be chiseling her name in the pantheon of Movement heroines somewhere between Harriet Tubman and Madame C.J. Walker. Of course by next week the official narrative will have changed to it being all the fault of evil Breitbart and racist FNC for “snookering” (bamboozling?) us po’ innocent black folk into railroading her eminence.
You left out her likely lawsuit for the firing. She will be a millionaire many times over.
Man, you nailed it on the head.
Lawsuit? Probably not. She has to look big and magnanimous now. She has a halo to polish.
Give her time. She was asked and answered she would consider one. I can’t remember which reporterette did the asking.
