Honestly what disadvantage is there to having Rove whining about the way Palin went after Obama?

So now she’s being nitpicked by both sides of the DC elite aisle...considering that the strong majority of this country have had it with just about anyone associated with DC I would assume she would be wearing it as a badge of honor as we get closer to decisions for 2012.

If she runs it would be no different than a mom dealing with a kid melting down while at the grocery store. That whiny little brat (in this case RINO’s and the RNC DC crowd) can kick and scream and make as big of a scene as they want, but the groceries are going to be bought that day come hell or high water.

I sure hope we get to see what happens when the Mom in this case gets that kid home in 2012.

“Enforce existing laws, heavily penalize employers, cut off social services, and they will repatriate themselves in droves. “

Oh sure. By what authority?

The federales have revealed THEY DO NOT INTEND TO ENFORCE AND WILL CHERRY PICK TO FIND JUDGES WHO REFUSE TO ALLOW THE STATES TO ENFORCE

If she had used a *more polite* "He doesn't have the guts ...," she would have been castigated as inconsiderate, just doesn't know what she's talking about. If she'd tempered that with "He doesn't have the spine ...," no one would be talking about this today.

Nothing wrong whatever with what she had to say or how she said it. This oh-so-outraged by so many is coming across as highly disingenuous.

If it was wasn’t for Rove we’d have 8 years of Gore or Kerry. At least Obama is incompetent enough to self-destruct.

That's sort of like Obama saying if his stimulus hadn't been passed, the economy would be even worse.

The idiotic Rove/Bush, almost eight year push for amnesty for illegals was the major factor that took the Republicans from one of their strongest positions ever after the election of 2004, to one of their weakest ever after the election of 2008.

And now it seems Rove is still pushing the divisive amnesty lunacy, which would go a long way toward assuring Dim majorities for the foreseeable future.

How amusing, and sad, that FReepers can be so nasty on a simple disagreement over whether remarks are crude or appropriate

And on a statement which isn't even documented with a direct quote in context or an article... This very much reminds me of comments from "unnamed sources" from one candidate or the other. We are so easily duped into being useful idiots.

Hmmm...I hadn’t thought about it that way. There really isn’t much of a downside since I don’t think it will be swaying any votes one way or the other.

Great point.

Agree re: his RINO associations but ya gotta give him props for his support of America, the vets and his ability to reach out to the mushy middle with his softer, non-threatening message. That said, i do wish he would cease with his RINO support.

Build a new pool of conservatives!

Oh, yeah, that 1986 amnesty under Reagan just turned all Hispanics into Republican voters. Right? People forget this has already been done.

Unfortunately in terms of “false choice”, or “false dilemma” - your solution of massive repatriation (voluntary or not) is one extreme, and open border liberals are the other.

I propose a middle way, one which we control.
Realistically a middle way is the best that will happen.

The only question is WHO will structure the middle way and control the terms. Not people who hold to either extreme, though some, not all, of each side’s demands must be met.

Hopefully the process will be controlled by people with a love for American traditions, individual liberty and the long term survival of American values.

This would NOT (MUST NOT) be obama nor the democrat party, given where they have devolved under obama pelosi reid et al.

C’mon Karl, even the NYT didn’t fuss over the term. And here, we cheered the heck out of it. It needs saying. And I’m glad to see it being repeated in headline after headline. Somehow, I think Sarah knew that it would. ;-)

We integrated a million Southeast Asians in the 70’s using sponsors- remember?

Key word: SPONSORS

Who's going to support all those illegals already on the dole? Other illegals? You?

I often think if we'd had Gore or Kerry, maybe they would have done enough to screw things up and p!ss people off to get a real conservative elected in 04 or 08 WITHOUT doing the extensive, probably irreparable damage that 0bama is foisting on us now. I don't think the country would have let the white boy presidents get away with what 0bama is getting away with. Just a thought.

the people who have fled from communism (Cuban, east European, Vietnamese are generally conservative. Teaching a group to love and appreciate this county CAN be done and it must be done

I see Hispanics over time as more “conservative” than blacks - don't you? Compared to the poverty and hopelessness in Central America, the “black struggle” has become a fairy tale lived by a past generation. All they have to do is look around. Don't know how much longer the old obscenely wealthy race pimps like Sharpton Jackson obama et al can keep it going.

Our best hope of countering the obamite goal of creating ever more govt dependency- is to make this happen

The problem is the government estimates. I work with the government daily and whatever they give me for an estimate (money, people etc) I multiply by 3 and I’m usually pretty close so the estimated 1.0 million to 2.7 million is pretty much there.

They give out anymore amnesty, we’ll become a third world country which I believe BO and his cronies want anyway.

We cannot stop some form of legalization from happening- even Palin sees that WE can only take control of HOW it is going to happen.

I don't accept your premise. Of course we can stop legalization from taking place. Rolling over is not the answer. Legalization will destroy this country with the stroke of pen and make the Dems the permanent majority party, which they are already on a path to do given our LEGAL immigration policies that essentially bring in Dem voters.

Palin is wrong on amnesty as is her mentor, John McCain. We had an amnesty in 1986. It didn't work.

Phased, with requirements that must be met and qualifiers like every other country has, allowing registered guest worker status for menial labor who just want to send money (taxed) home and billing Mexico for their healthcare and social needs, doing away with “anchor baby” status for those NOT enrolled in or cooperating in the legalization process, securing the border, and planning assimilation to occur over a period of time would be my approach.

Let's try enforcement first and see how that works out. Guest worker programs don't work unless you adopt draconian measures like Saudi Arabia and Singapore have. That would never be allowed under our Constitution or legal system. Doing away with birthright citizenship [jus solis] could take many years of court battles and perhaps require a Constitutional amendment. And it can't be back dated. We have 400,000 anchor babies a year being born in this country.

Everone seems to be in favor of securing the border, but that is being held hostage to amnesty by the Dems. And it is worth noting that 30 to 40% of all illegals have come here legally and are visa overstays. Securing the border will not prevent that.

Planning assimilation? The numbers are getting too big to do that. The U.S. adds one international migrant (net) every 36 seconds. Immigrants account for one in 8 U.S. residents, the highest level in more than 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. In a decade, it will be one in 7, the highest it has been in our history. And by 2050, one in 5 residents of the U.S. will be foreign-born.

Build a new pool of conservatives! Many Cubans appreciate freedom and liberty.... business owners who emigrated from communism would make good sponsors

Second and third generation Cuban-Americans are trending Dem. And even if they weren't, the numbers from places like Mexico and Central America dwarf those numbers. There are approximately 47 million Hispanics in this country now. Most of them are Dem voters.

Bureau of the Census: Minorities, now roughly one-third of the U.S. population, are expected to become the majority in 2042, with the nation projected to be 54 percent minority in 2050. By 2023, minorities will comprise more than half of all children. Meanwhile, the Hispanic population is projected to nearly triple, from 46.7 million to 132.8 million during the 2008-2050 period. Its share of the nation's total population is projected to double, from 15 percent to 30 percent. Thus, nearly one in three U.S. residents would be Hispanic.

Along with figuring out how to make life worth living in Central America so they won’t all come HERE

LOL. More pollyanish BS. Have you ever been to Central America? I have. The idea that we can somehow turn these countries around so people won't leave and come to the US is pure delusion. These are corrupt societies, which are ruled by elites. The Rule of Law and property rights are alien to most of them. Being poor in America is far more attractive than living in these societies. The problem is that America cannot take everyone who wants to come here. We are being overwhelmed now by immigration, legal and illegal.
