America under-reacted. al Qaeda (and its supporters
like Zakaria) remain a threat to the fabric of America.

Of course, Zakaria has no concern for America at all.

He sounds just like Michael Moore - “there is no terrorist threat.”

The author ignores the fact that it took Islam 8 years to finally take down the Trade Center after the first try and that that was with no one acting as if they were any sort of a threat. 8 years. Islam has something in the works and they’ll wait until all of the components are in place.

In the 1990s, we were certain that Saddam Hussein had a nuclear arsenal

The new big lie in Progressive Fascist media circles. The last couple of weeks this lie has been popping up all over the place. NO, NO ONE thought Saddam HAD nukes, some people (i.e the Brits, the French even the bleedin UN) had evidence that suggested he was trying to GET nukes. But no one said he HAD them

This is how the American Left will try to justify leaving Iraq in the lurch...like they did Vietnam.

We’ve lost more of those ‘freedoms’ the terrorists hate to our own government than the terrorists could have ever taken.

List for me 3 freedoms you have lost under the Patriot Act.

Over-reacted??? Turning the desert into glass would not have been over-reacting. In my opinion, we’ve under-reacted.

For an under-talented Muslim with his own show, which no one watches, on CNN, Zakaria certainly whines a lot.
We should have deported every Muslim after 9/11. That might have been an over-reaction, but very sensible for the security of the nation.

Great point. So much of what is wrong in GOP circles these days can be traced back to the feet of Grover Norquist, especially as it relates to the Bush administration's PR 'outreach' to Islam following 9/11:

It was Norquist who ushered these silver-tongued jihadists into the Oval Office of an incurious president after the worst attack ever on American soil ... Instead, at that September 26 meeting, Bush declared that "the teachings of Islam are teachings of peace and good." It was a critically important, historic incident. What should have been the most important teaching moment of the long war became a propaganda tool for Islam. A singular opportunity was squandered, and the resulting harm is incalculable.

Bush did this because he trusted Norquist, who vouched for these Muslim leaders. Yet "the record suggests," wrote Foer, "that [Norquist] has spent quite a lot of time promoting people openly sympathetic to Islamist terrorists." And this continued for years.

Would this bonehead be saying the same thing if the jihadi's had flown four airplanes into the headquarters buildings of The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time, and Newsweek?

What part of “The West is at War with Islam” don't people understand? Islam has been at war with the west since at least 1979 and there are sovereign governments behind the war, and running it. In our arrogance, we just don't respond.

Was the downing of the Pam Am plane over Lockerbie an act of war by Libya?

Was the storming of the US embassy in 1979 and act of war by Iran?

Did proxies of Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and Syria, perpetrate an act of war on 9/11? Was it not carried out by Saudi nationals?

Were the myriad terrorist attacks in the UK, Spain and elsewhere, carried out by proxies, an act of war?

All of these countries must be dealt with sooner or later. Picking them off one by one is easy for a power like the US. Bush had the right idea, he just could not marshal public support for his war.

Iran is going to have to be dealt with now. The civilized world will have to rely on one of its smallest members to do this job.

Eventually the west is going to have to realize what is going on. We are being attacked and colonized on a daily basis. Unfortunately, we are destined to suffer more attacks by terrorists before public opinion shifts enough to elect some leaders who will speak the truth and act accordingly. The US is the leader of the western world and must lead the civilized world in this fight.

Thank you for that link to the article on Norquist, I hadn't seen that one. He needs to be tried for Treason.

It is very simply folks, the longer we allow the PC nonsense to persist about islam and don't face the TRUTH about it, the further it will infiltrate and destroy this Nation and Western Civilization. It needs to be exposed and eradicated from ALL of Western Civilization. All that anyone needs to do is read their own statements and "religious" texts, they are quite clear as to what their goals are, and they aren't pretending. If Western Civilization insists on clinging to PC lies and propaganda, we are marching to our death and destruction. It is very simple, the TRUTH needs to be exposed as often as we can.

No one could be this stupid by accident. AQ carried out multiple attacks BEFORE 9/11 to which KKKlinton under reacted. FZ seems to think it was silly to think they could commit MORE attacks after the most successful one in history and their stated desire to do more.

The bashing of George Bush goes on. America didn’t over react. If anything the response has been restrained mostly by the democrats because of their hatred for Bush and the left because of their hatred for America.

Iislam has been at war with the wWest since at least 1979 for centuries.

And they will continue to march toward their clearly stated goal of islamic world domination until Western Civilization throws off the self-imposed suicide pill of PC thought and begins to tell the TRUTH.
