Imam Rauf could stop all this with one sentence:

‘I had not realized how upsetting this would become so, in the interest of being sensitive to those in my adopted country and looking to build bridges with Americans, I have decided to choose another location for our mosque’

It can only defuse the situation if he himself decides to move the mosque. But he won’t. Because it’s really all about constructing a building on the site of a great victory for Muslims. We are not stupid. We won’t be fooled again.

You shouldn’t. Some people saw through the lies, a lot didn’t. There is a reason his ratings are plummeting. It is not those who saw through him that are turning on him, it is those who didn’t. Polls, elections, and theories are important but are becoming almost secondary in importance. This jerk has created a powder-keg in this country. If you live or work in a big city, especially in a large corporate office, you can feel the tension in the air every day.
