Thanks for the map. Four years ago, the guys at Powerline blog tried to alert the folks in the Mpls area that Keith Ellison was actually a leftist Muslim, and that he was sympathetic to the terrorist cause. Unfortunately Mpls has the biggest share of the black population in the state as well as a history of liberalism. The southern tier of this district is completely unrepresented as they are more moderate - conservative.

The only good news service is a dead news service. News is merely a genre of nonfiction whose practitioners systematically overemphasize the imperfections of society and position themselves as being the superiors of the people.

The founder of the Fascist Party of Italy, Benito Mussolini, was an editor - indeed, when he seized power he made himself de facto editor in chief of all Italian newspapers.

How, you ask, are we to do without news services? Simple - we go back to the journalism of the founding era, before the telegraph was invented and perverted by the Associated Press into an instrument for homogenizing the newspapers. We go back to journalism on long deadlines or no deadline at all.

IOW, we go forward into a world where the news is reported on the Internet, and is linked explicitly as is done on FR. We go back to a world where people publish only because they have something to communicate, not because a certain amount of time has elapsed since the last time they published. We go back to a world where everyone understands that reports don't come with guarantees, and everyone understands that they have to take the source into account when evaluating what they are told.

The wisest and most cautious of us all frequently gives credit to stories which he himself is afterwards both ashamed and astonished that he could possibly think of believing . . .

It is acquired wisdom and experience only that teach incredulity,
and they very seldom teach it enough.

You're forgiven - - we all have those moments.
