Everybody in the GOP thinks 2012 is up for grabs. I have a hunch it won't be that simple.

Sorry Newt, you're a nonstarter.

Why does everyone on FR hate the guy so much? In the interviews I’ve seen with him, he sounds very intelligent and pretty solidly conservative.

He sticks his finger in the wind, and when the wind appears to be going against conservatism, he caves. The shining example for me is right after Obama was elected. Instead of sticking to his conservative principles, in spite of the way the wind seemed to be blowing, he caved and announced that "the era of Reagan is over." He likes to pretend he's at the forefront of new thought, but he's a follower with no core beliefs (the sort of beliefs you follow regardless of which way the wind seems to be blowing).

Gingrich is NOT an idealogue...he has worked out a large number of actual workable positions in our current political system that takes into account political reality...that’s not well-received in an idealogical forum...magritte

There are a small but determined band of Newt-haters here, acting out their own issues mostly. I recall how he engineered the Republican landslide of 1994, but also how he is a flawed people-pleaser, easily swayed to compromise once in a position to do so. I respect him as an innovative thinker but he just would not be reliable in office, if for no other reason than willingness to jettison proven principles in the interest of some idea "outside the box."

===========================================

LTC Alan West / Sarah Palin ........in 2012

That's right, run a black against a black.

And then Sarah from 2020 to 2028 after her VP experience.

Lock it in for 16 years.

he of course said that Romney is the leading candidate and of course the more popular Huckabee ......oh yeah and Palin is a phenomenon... but implies that she's way, way way down on the list.

Palin is the defacto leader of the Republican Party cause she's the only one with a set of balls that will call out the democrat socialist, RINOs and MSM.

Well I hope Calista and Newtie join the romney bots and blue blood rinos in the kill zone. Cause 2012 is RINO hunting season and Texas will be ground zero. We need to find a candidate to replace Kay Bailey.

Gingrich drops skepticism on global warming

The Marriages of Newt Gingrich

Newt when asked how he could be unfaithful and give a speech on family values: "It doesn't matter what I do," he answered. "People need to hear what I have to say. There's no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn't matter what I live."

Nancy Pelosi And Newt Gingrich Come Together To Fight Climate Change

We are not going to deport 11 million people," Gingrich said Thursday as he kicked off his first forum on Latino issues. "There has to be some zone between deportation and amnesty."
