Leftist applauded Colombia University for inviting Ahmadinejad to speak, they think Chavez is some class warfare hero, I remember their approval when Burma changed its name to Myanmar in complete opposition to history and the Burmese people. Leftists are totalitarian by philosophy; as Rush says, incapable of happiness and by design, devoid of any conception of Liberty and personal freedom.

They are simply constitutionally incapable of understanding Natural Law and the philosophy of our Constitution.

I know know this is obvious to Freepers but I thought what the heck, might as well say it again.

-——He noted Russia has agreed to lend Venezuela up to $2.2 billion for additional arms deals -——

This is what got the soviet Union in trouble and led to downfall. It would seem the lesson was not learned.

They have only one source of jobs and exports...... weapons. They make weapons, sell on credit, use the sovereign notes as collateral for loans to the weapons companies to make payroll and buy what ever is needed for production. They then do it over and over and over.

In the early 90’s I participated in a trade mission to Russia..... they were free for the first time to buy from the world. They wanted everything, especially computers, copy machines and fax machines. Alas, they had no money. They couldn’t understand why Americans would not accept payment against a note from Iraq, their banks always did.

See the Wikipedia entry on the Shahab 3 - one variant has a range of 1930 km, which is 1200 miles. So they could hit us.

This just became a Class A crisis.

Sorry for no link, but I am on my phone

For once I would like to wake up and be met with Good News.

Caracas to Miami 2272 km - they could just barely make it.

More likely to hit Key West.

See the Wikipedia entry on the Shahab 3 - one variant has a range of 1930 km, which is 1200 miles.

This is what the Iranians claimed when they tested that variant. However, independent analysis of the video determined that it was no different than earlier variants, and would not have any additional range:

However, the Iranians are reportedly developing ballistic missiles with ranges up to 4,300 KM:

Cuban Missile Crisis redux

only we are not going to react this time. We are setting ourselves up to be in a position where we “cannot endanger the homeland” by not forcing Israel to self destruct.

I don’t think the kenyan is “asleep at the wheel.” He is steering a different course.

So when Venezuela launches a missle, will the feds classify it as an airplane?

When the Soviets slipped missiles into Cuba, even John Kennedy had the guts to force their removal. Barack Obamateur will serve Venezuela high tea and apologize for the rough seas.

The first Venezuelan missile that strikes American soil spells the end of the Chavez-hole as well as Iran. And it may mean the end of the Democratic Party.

He (Chavez) could also just be thinking about hurting Colombia.

A couple points about the Cuban Missile Crisis. The first is we underestimated the range of the missiles there.

The second, the USSR had ringed Cuba with missile armed subs capable of taking out any of our air craft carrier battle groups.

Time for a few SR 71 flights over Venezuela and locate those areas, pay the UN a cursuary visit and begin invading Venezula as soon as possible. Do not expect as much help from the OAS as we received in 1962 as most of SA is now commie. Oh, one last thing, we would probably have to get approval from China to use the Panama Canal to move any military assets from the Pacific.

Also within 1500km range is the Panama Canal. Which fits in well with...

Iran, Venezuela plan to build rival to Panama Canal

Excerpts:

The recent border dispute between Costa Rica and Nicaragua is a sign of an ambitious plan by Venezuela, Iran and Nicaragua to create a "Nicaragua Canal" linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans that would rival the existing Panama Canal.

...the border incident and the military pressure on Costa Rica, a country without an army, are the first step in a plan formulated by... .Chavez and Ortega, with funding and assistance from Iran, to create a substitute for the strategically and economically important Panama Canal.

Panama is a country with a distinctly pro-American orientation.... The Panamanian economy and Panamanian stability would be in real danger of collapse if another canal took away its monopoly on shipping between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

America's enemies are in a full court press to collapse American geopolitical reach even in its own hemisphere and we have a Quisling in the White House!

Then of course when Iran has missiles with a larger range it will certainly also move them into Venezuela and the dream of our domestic anti-American Left could be within reach.

Emplacement of missiles in Venezuela would definitely threaten Colombia, an ally of the United States. South America’s geopolitical equation would be changed overnight. If this report turns out to be true, it will have an impact on the USA that Obama cannot avoid.

Being in the offshore drilling business, I would consider their ability to cripple Gulf drilling.

However, on second thought the “OBAMA SCUM” missile was launched and continues to have “INCOMING”!!!!

Colombia IS a good ally....but Obama STILL has not signed the trade agreement with Colombia. The idiot Pelosi doesn’t want this agreement because she actually believes the highly infiltrated human rights organizations. The depth of stupidity continues to fascinate....
