Americans are fed up. No surprise! Congress approval rating at 13%

Congress’s approval rating has dipped so low, it seems like the only people in the country who approve of the beleaguered pols are their moms, according to a new poll.

A mere 13 percent of Americans approve of the way Congress is handling its responsibilities, a historic low fueled by a deep drop of support among Democrats.

The Gallup poll of 1,019 people — taken between Friday and Sunday as President Obama and Congress hammered out a deal on the Bush tax cuts — found an overwhelming 83 percent of respondents disapproved of the way Congress was going about its business. Four percent had no opinion.
The previous lowest approval rating was 14 percent in July 2008, when the United States was dealing with a crashing economy and record-high gas prices.

The most significant drop was among disappointed Democrats, whose approval ratings plunged from 29 percent in November to 16 percent now.

The November survey was taken after the midterm elections, when the GOP won control of the House, leading pollsters to theorize that the drop in Democrats’ support stems from frustration over the deal to extend Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.

Just think what will happen if they pass the Dream Act.

Buchanan again raising many valid points and displaying a better understanding of economics than the tenured-government paid-university economists who have no clue of what is going on.

Of course, I expect this thread to be full of Liberal, Globalist, Open Borders, Free Trade Communist “Buchanan s—ks” posts. However, Buchanan has been right on the economics all along...and the supporters of tenured-government paid economists cannot challenge Buchanan anymore

My head just wants to explode

If anyone wants to know why they can’t get a job, show them this.

On top of this, the exporting of jobs offshore shrunk the total jobs available. Thank you nafta, walmart and the clintons

I suspect Americans do not desire to keep their country. The illegals protest in mass, Americans protest none to little.

This is why we’re screwed. This is why English-speaking men can’t locate work. As pro business as I am I’m not willing to sell fellow Americans out. I’ve heard all the arguments as to why this is happening too. But when there’s a booming Hispanic grocery store in EVERY small town then you just have to conclude that our businesses would rather hire a work-for-10 hour/pay for 6-hour illegal. We have chosen to succumb to this. How disgusting it is.

Oh, personally I'm Galting. If the S doesn't HTF within the next five months I should have self sufficiency in place.

When I asked "what to do?" i was making reference to the USA and the sad answer is more words.

Someone should investigate how we got to this point in our immigration policy. You can bet that the insiduous hand of the UN plays a significant role in this destruction of the West.

Well, that's certainly one of the more popular Conservative readings of the situation. But I have a slightly different one. Where is the UN headquartered? Where did Trotsky spend the winter of 1917? What have we seen over and over in the Wikileaks wires? Where did Soros set up shop?

I just read an article today that hundreds of millions of dollars for "reproductive planning" is being earmarked in the omnibus bill for distribution to foreign nations:

The omnibus also allocates $710 million for international family planning/reproductive health which provides funding to organizations that promote and perform abortion overseas.

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/omnibus-bill-includes-taxpayer-funded-abortions-dc_523462.html

Is it possible, just possible, that liberalism flows from the New York/Washington axis to much of the world and not the other way around?

I think a Trojan horse was rolled into this country a long time ago and we may have been focusing too much on the external.

you forgot Bush 1.

And, Bush II... He wanted to create a "new America" - the same as "fundamentally changing" America...

THE "NEW AMERICAN"
..........<

We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture.

Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende.

For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America.

Our future cannot be separated from the future of Latin America.

As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico.

George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000.

You can read the speech here.

Here is an excerpt of a good critique of that speech:

In equating our intimate historic bonds to our mother country and to Canada with our ties to Mexico, W. shows a staggering ignorance of the civilizational facts of life. The reason we are so close to Britain and Canada is that we share with them a common historical culture, language, literature, and legal system, as well as similar standards of behavior, expectations of public officials, and so on. America is dead. Humans prefer slavery to freedom, even when the slave master (government) blatantly lies and defrauds them daily.

As pro business as I am I’m not willing to sell fellow Americans out.

That's because you're a patriot and don't worship at the altar of "The Market". There are some of us who realize a nation needs more than just cheap Ipods to continue to exist.

I cannot help but be thankful Pat was never President, and Pat did advise Nixon. Maybe we need an IKE, or Harry.

And it's absolutely astonishing how quickly this took place. As late as the 1990s this problem was still localized to the Southwest and the Chicagoland area.

Now, just 15 years later, you can go to the most remote, hilltop town in North Carolina and come across a bustling fruteria.

Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 (Hart-Celler Act abolished the National Origins Formula that had been in place in the United States since the Immigration Act of 1924. It was proposed by United States Representative Emanuel Celler of New York, co-sponsored by United States Senator Philip Hart of Michigan, and heavily supported by United States Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.

Your idol Harrys folly with Stalin in Korea is still with us, be comforted. And Reagan, the Pope, and Kohl solved Europe after forty years.
I always Liked Ike, and unlike you, understand the impossible LBJ mess Nixon was willing to take on.

The melting pot is a myth. It is insane to believe that the immigrants, illegal or otherwise are just going to give up the conditioning they received in their homeland.

I knew a guy that came from Yugoslavia by way of Germany. He’s a US citizen now. Total Leftist. Believes in socialized medicine, progressive income taxes, German-style education.

He votes.

We would be better off had he stayed in Germany.
