The drilling companies should have defied the government, citing the the court decision and started drilling anyway....emergency case right directly to the Supremes and if the Feds still defied the courts, the officials involved would have been cited for contempt and jailed!

Well if we are shooting for the moon here, I would like to see the state declare environmental permits unncecessary and let pollution be handled where it matters, at the level of the local municipality. Beyond local laws, I believe that pollution should be a civil matter, to be dealt with in the civil courts by people with real standing who can show actual damages(not these “for the people” envirofascists).

Great point. With the state of our governmental bodies, it is easy to lose sight of the reality that the best government is the government that is closest to the people, which would be — first of all — SELF-government, and then municipal government.

I completely agree. The drilling companies, doctors, insurance companies etc etc should ALL defy these totalitarian tactics when the courts rule in their favor.
