I hope a good replacement comes forward and this doesn’t become a “lost” seat.

I appreciate it, but I was pretty much kidding. I am trying to get myself into the Army, and that isn’t compatible with running for congress. I meet all the requirements, technically, but I think my whole obsession with honesty would get in the way of a career in politics.

However, there isn’t any reason I can’t run for office after I serve. Maybe the country will be ready for someone like me by then.

“There were the prior candidates:
Michael Williams
Roger Williams
Elizabeth Ames Jones

More may jump in now. Dewhurst?”

Dewhurst will be the establishment candidate.

I’ll be making a very large donation to Michael Williams. Heard him speak several times last year. He’s our guy.

Thanks americanophile.
In 2010, she challenged Gov. Rick Perry in the Republican primary for governor, but lost.

Yep. Dewhurst is definitely considering...

Dear Texan,

As you may know, earlier today Kay Bailey Hutchison announced that she will not seek another term as United States Senator in 2012.

Senator Hutchison has served Texas and our country well, and she deserves our sincere gratitude.

In just these few hours since her announcement, I have received countless inquiries about my intentions with regard to running for the United States Senate.

While my focus remains on the challenges we face here at the state level and making this upcoming session successful, I fully intend to explore running for the United States Senate, and should I run, I will run with the intention of winning and continuing to serve the people of Texas just as I have done throughout my career.

We are doing the right things here in Texas, like reducing spending and creating new private sector jobs, but in so many ways – from the economy to health care to energy policy – our path is being made more difficult because of what’s going on in Washington.

I will have more to say about my future plans in the coming weeks, but again, today is a day for honoring Senator Hutchison’s contributions to our state and our nation.

Sincerely, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst

I saw that info on the Texas cable news not long ago. What will make this interesting I think is there are several that are wanting to run and 2012 is a presidential election year. So we’ll have a lot of primary contestants for the presidential race and then this race will be open. Money for the not so well funded may make it hard for some of them to run a statewide race. D/FW, Austin, San Antonio and the Houston markets will not be cheap. But it should be interesting.

Someone somewhere will find a way to screw up this opportunity. Good thing the Bush girls aren’t old enough.

I received an email earlier, from Sen. DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund, that said “the Washington establishment seems to be lining up behind Dewhurst” and that SCF supports strong conservatives like Michael Williams. SCF considers (TX Railroad Commissioner) Michael Williams “an outstanding conservative leader and he will be at the very top of our list as we consider candidates for an endorsement in the 2012 election.”

When Ms.H tried to upstage and seat an outstanding GOVERNOR, she should have gotten out of it all, entirely. She has served her time, using the tightroap of Conservatism as her montra, which really didn’t stick..glad she is going!! Onward and upward big T!! Love your state having lived there for many a year!!

TX voters tend to prefer the establishment candidate, so that means Dewhurst AND Myth Romney, I am afraid.

I suspect that we will see a huge swing to the left in KBH’s voting record in 2011 and 2012.
