Apparently, US Special Envoy Frank Wisner is in charge. He just did a 180 on an important FP issue. Has he told Obama yet?

Wisner's the man on the ground, a guy who has first-hand info. He's obviously been talking and checking around.

What's truly astonishing to me, is that all of the waffling and Large Statements by Obama and his team, have evidently been made without good information -- and/or whatever information they had, was trumped by Obama's typically idealistic thinking.

It's awfully late in the game to be changing course like this. It would have been very easy for Obama to keep his mouth shut until he knew more. But he didn't.

From a domestic political perspective, I think this ends up being a Big Deal.

Darling you got to let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
If you say that you are mine
I’ll be here ’til the end of time
So you got to let me know
Should I stay or should I go?

Wisner is a pro and a patriot, a retired career Foreign Service Officer who held important posts in both Republican and Democrat administrations. He is a grown up, a rarity among ZERO envoys.

I agree that it’s a big deal. This means that a few more of the more sensible people in the State Dept may actually have decided they don’t want to be waving their fannies in the air or wearing a burqa anytime soon.

So are we going to have a State/WH conflict? Wisner was Bambi’s “choice” about the same way that a kid’s dentist ws the kid’s choice. Maybe there are some grownups there.

And while a lot of them are serious leftists, maybe they don’t want to unleash the 12th imam either.

I hope they can hear the would-be 12th Imam pounding on the closet door even as we speak...

Sydney Morning Herald - ‎8 minutes ago‎ """In Munich, US President Barack Obama's special envoy Frank Wisner said Mubarak should stay in office during a democratic transition. ... """ Wisner is in Munich with Hillary. Wisner and Hillary were told in no uncertain terms from Cameron and Merket to knock off this dump Mubarek immediately.

There’s lots of discussion as to whether 0bama and his minions are deliberately destructive to the US or are merely incompetent. This episode leans towards incompetence.

I honestly do not understand how 0bama can pretend or maybe I should say delude himself that he has the ability to tell Mubarak what to do, that he can tell the Egyptians what to do. I just don’t get it. Why does he think he’ll be able to affect the outcome?

And so, for him to wave a magic wand as if he’s some kind of sorcerer and either pronounce the outcome or predict the outcome or cajole one party or another to do his bidding, either public or private, is sheer folly. So the act of waving the magic wand is massively destructive of his credibility in all cases *except* where the outcome happens to match his pronouncement.

So a wise man would not dictate to Egypt nor Mubarek what to do. But that’s not what 0bama is.

“Possibilities...”

Actually I think that Mubarak told Obama to go to hell and that he’s NOT about to step down (and Mubarak has plenty of supporters, including the military that knows full well what happened to the officers when the Shah was overthrown).

Now, rather than looking even more idiotic, he’s trying to catch up with events.

Obama would LOVE to see Mubarak go tomorrow, but he’s powerless to effect that, and is trying to not project that powerlessness to other US friends - so that he can still get them thrown out.

When you get Biden putting a gag on Obama for being a gaffmatic, then you will know things are really FUBAR.

At least there's one person who doesn't have his head up the moslum brotherhood's ass. The administration would take the same stance if it wasn't full of traitors and fools.

Wisner and Hillary were told in no uncertain terms from Cameron and Merket to knock off this dump Mubarek immediately.

Good info, and I think that's very possible. Cameron gave his "anti-Islamic takeover" speech either today or yesterday (allowing for the time differnce) and I think this may have given them some moral support. Also, I don't think Hillary, nutty though she may be, is necessarily on the side of Obama in the "oust Mubarak" movement, because she sure hasn't said much.

A real SOS would have been much more to the forefront, but Bambi gave her the title and no authority. And because she has always worked in teh shadow of somebody more powerful (Bill), she accepted.

But maybe there's enough pressure finally to get her to act. Also, Wisner is apparently a career diplomat under both Dems and the GOP who may have been appointed by Bambi because Obama thought he was going to be a hack, but perhaps with backing from Hillary and knowledgeable people, he may actually be saying what is right based on his experience.

If this goes ahead, I'd say it means Obama no longer has any power in the WH. He can go back and shoot hoops with the local Louis Farrakhan bunch.

“This would be a great time for North Korea to start banging some pots and pans.”

Suicide - Obama would support their government. They need to wait until we clear out the America-haters from our government.

He had plenty of practice.

How many times did he vote present?

This bunch makes the Carter administration look good.
