not being sarcastic, just curious. what have the GOA done for 2A rights? I don't hear anything about them. have they made any progress ?
The NRA and GOA are actually two different types of Second Amendment groups...
The NRA is more of a corporate institution with an est. 4+ million members, they also have a lot of irons in the fire, training, education, legislative action group. Definitely the big dog in the kennel so they get smoozed a lot by the "elected class", but with that comes some interdependence with politicians and the government.
The GOA is a small but ferocious grassroots type group that uses member alerts to battle or support specific legislation. Instead of spending money on lawyers and training programs, they use their members as the "action arm", they send out alerts and the members are urged to take action... as in contacting and bringing pressure on their Reps.
People attempt to compare the two groups, but it is unfair at best, as the GOA is a much smaller organization and their impact on legislation is difficult to gauge.

In the areas where the NRA and GOA fail on the legislative side, the SAF fights like hell in the courts to destroy unconstitutional laws.

HP BASIC or MSDOS?.......
To: Red Badger
You could do both...Windows didn’t boot up at start up like it does now...You couls also open a DOS window and do a lot of damage if you didn’t know what you were doing...
And these days you could look a college graduate in the eye and say can you open me up a DOS prompt???
The puzzled looks might make you feel a million years old...hehehe

"Per Chris Cox, the NRA gave Reid $5,000 for his 2010 primary."
I don't like it, but I doubt that 5,000 was the make or break part of his campaign. They did not pour money into his campaign or even endorse him as some on here would have you believe. He is the speaker of the house who is decent on gun rights. Hence the small donation. The NRA is a one issue organization. Ask yourself this, without Harry Reid do we get the pro gun bills like carry in national parks or transportation of weapons on trains passed? Probably not.
They did not really support him, but they did not actively campaign against him either. If the NRA did not support Democrats who support gun rights, they would not be as powerful as they are today.

I’ve done that.
We have some old computers here at work for specific purposes that run DOS. The younger guys have no clue how to operate them. No mouse, no windows. nothing but keyboard and memory of the ‘old’ commands...........makes me feel superior!...........

Good morning and please excuse my absence. Well, at first blush, this does not look good at all. One of the men at the breakfast is very active in the NRA and is running to be on the Board of Directors. I will be sure and ask him about this Saturday at the gun show. I’ll post his comments. I’m doing well. Hope you are, too.

I am doing well. I am glad to see you; I was planning to start looking for you this weekend. I’ve missed you. Things are getting straightened out for us; we may be going back to Papua in July. More later in a freepmail.

Thanks for the post and the concern about my absence. I'll be reporting to you after I talk to Steve tomorrow about Keene. We shipped JUNO out last Friday to the Cape.
