How long can Sarah Palin put off Iowa? She has almost no presence in the state.

Ms. Palin is not going to run for the office of President of the US in 2012.

Remember: you read it here first!

You flatter yourself.

You make it every time you post something on this board.

She's not running - She loves attention first and foremost, she right on a great number of issues but she is not ready to run and won't.

Something tells me you may be right. I love the governor for her faith, work ethic and integrity, but when she speaks, it quite often sounds contrived, maybe even a little pretentious, as if she is trying to impress rather than express. Should she ever get over that hump, I do think she could win and I would welcome it. I do believe she is working harder than anybody else right now to do what is right for this country. But until she gets over whatever insecurity she has about her intellect, she is going to struggle. I will also add, that if she would put me on the ticket, it would be one hell of a fun campaign. :) Palin/Morris 2012!

I’d vote for anyone who refuses to grovel to the cry-baby voters in Iowa and NH, two of the most inconsequential states, who would have no discernible worth were it not for the media carnival they hold every four years.

She hasn’t been polling worth a crap. I’d say she’s not running.

hate to vote for some dumbocrat but I will NOT hold my nose and vote again.

You can't be serious. You'll vote for Obama before you vote for any of these Republicans? That's not even logical.

if in order to have a “presence” in Iowa she would be forced to embrace the Ethanol Scam, I’d just as soon she not do that.

There are plenty of other states where she could crush the opposition. Time to relegate the ethanol pimps who run the Iowa Cauci to the irrelevance they so richly deserve.

Yep.
I’ve been thinking about the Ethanol issue.
She may be better off skipping Iowa. The small gain there isn’t worth the baggage that comes with pandering to the locals.

Wasn’t it the IA Straw Poll that did in Buchanan, made him w/d from the race as a GOP candidate and go Reform Party? I’d say that’s more important than the caucuses (which I think are terrific, btw, just don’t put that much stock in them).

I found this. It is interesting and it shows how those who throw hissy fits and stomp off to join a pure party (that does not exist) come to regret it and change their minds.

Alexander withdrew immediately after the Straw Poll but it doesn't say when Buchanan quit but he joined the "Reformed Party" the end of Oct. That got him a long way, didn't it? http://archive.fairvote.org/e_news/pres_campaign_events_2000.htm

Found this, too, following the box for 1999 results.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ames_Straw_Poll

“A record 23,685 voters participated in the 1999 Ames Straw Poll, held at the Hilton Coliseum.... Due to poor results in the Ames Straw Poll, Lamar Alexander and Dan Quayle both dropped out of the presidential race immediately after the Ames Straw Poll.[4] Elizabeth Dole and Pat Buchanan dropped out of the Republican race within a month after the Ames Straw Poll, though Pat Buchanan continued his presidential campaign as a Reform Party candidate instead.”

It looks like Huck is not getting in. Barbour out. Palin not doing much but I know she has a skeleton crew on the ground but they may all be volunteers.

Santorum is in the state and making good impressions. Ron Paul announcing his committee. Bachmann likely to get in. Cain is hiring staff.

I have no idea who I will support at the Straw Poll but I do like Santorum. He's taking on Obama, too.

How does Mitch Daniels sound?

I like him. But if he wants it, he needs to get out and get aggressive. I don't know if he has that in him....But someone with some balls needs to jump on into the fray for the GOP. And do so non apologetically. The whole GOP field is lacking balls. Mrs. Palin has them, but she is not ready to be CinC and this is just not the right time for her.

That is the only way to get the idiot repubs to nominate a conservative. I am not interested in the middle of the road, sitting on the fence, reaching across the aisles, I demand a conservative. As some have said here - it will only make me a loser but I can live with that rather than feeling for another four years like I prostituted myself for some bunch I don’t agree with. If more people had the courage to just say no to the idiots who want to nominate someone who is “electable” we would already have a conservative. I don’t want a social conservative or a financial conservative,I want a red white and blue true conservative. Those jokers I said I wont vote for - they are not conservative so if I am not going to vote for a conservative, so be it.
