Nahh, Marco will be just fine. He has homies in there who’ll look out for him. He’ll do his short stretch, be out in no time with street cred for having been in prison, and be back to his gang banging ways.
The trash that did the stabbing will likely be out on bail and maybe do a little time if they stick around for trial. Instead,
the gang filth stabbers should be removed from the gene pool as painfully as possible. Too bad the perps are not
white Americans or they could throw hate crime in with it.
Or grand son.
Why do you care to this extent?
That’s a hard 45.
>>Why do you care to this extent?<<
Look at your phone bill. Look at your income tax bill.
Many, if not most, deaf people WANT to be deaf. I have immediate connections to that community and they can’t see why I object to subsidizing a problem that could be eradicated.
Why do you think there isn’t a massive move to eliminate deafness. Because they don’t WANT it gone. They want it subsidized. Forever.
Just ignore freedumb20003. He's a bigot. It's not the first time that he shared his views regarding the Deaf despite that in this forum there are several FReepers who are deaf and hoh.
I keep away generally when I see the bowl come out; I know at one point he was spending $300/week on the stuff.
This is America so you're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it is. Having that said, what are your connections with the Deaf Community? Thanks for your response in advance.
>> ensure the deaf Community mainstreams itself...
And your suggestions to accomplish this are?
>> ... potential scientific breakthroughs
My son is dating a Doctor, now in her 40s, who has, over the years, slowly lost all her hearing after a brain tumor when she was a teenager. 6 months ago she had a cochlear implant - the cost was slightly over $200,000. The unit became infected and had to be removed last month.
A comment from George Bernard Shaw: A fools brain digests philosophy into folly, science into superstition, and art into pedantry. Hence University education.
The mind numbing stupidity is almost beyond comprehension...the world will end because of this stupid incompetent ignorance..not necessarily because of intelligent evil intent.
Looks like someone took a shot at him and missed.
Instead of a .45 parting of the hair, he should have a neat hole between the eyes.
Sloppiness is bad.
“psychopath Buddha”
Band name bump.
My sister is a sign-language interpreter. I have spent a LOT of time arguing with her over 30 years about the complete contradiction in the deaf community. They want us to pay for their handicap but do little to actually do anything about it.
Ask a deaf person if he/she wants a cochlear implant. Or if it is OK for their kids to be hearing.

So I assume you spend time with the profoundly deaf, have talked to their groups, speak with them in ASL? Or is your example one person? It may have failed, but your son’s g/f is already out of the mainstream of most of the deaf community.

So science is nothing? Sorry to hear it. I assume your computer works on something other than electricity and scientific theories that go back to the Greeks of 2600 years ago? Wow, who woulda thunk it?
As I said — where are the marathons to end deafness? The ribbons? The push? Answer: nowhere, b/c they don
to WANT to be cured.
Yea I've heard the same trash opinions from ones saying people are in wheelchairs only because they only want to be. You have a far more serious problem yourself than anyone deaf or in a wheelchair though. Your problem is you are just too blind too see it. That is your disability though. Too bad you don't recognize it.
Think about this. If deafness is so easily cured then why does V.A. or example not cure instead of dispensing hearing aids? Most persons 100% deaf were born that way or became such soon after due to a disease or disorder. Others later on either acquired nerve damage seriously limiting hearing or in a few cases developed a cochlear issue which is actually the only one they can really do anything about.
There is more to hearing than just the ear. There is also a portion of the brain which must work properly as well. Either one not functioning property can mean permanent deafness. I have multiple Vestibular related issues none of which can be cured including my increasing deafness. I've had most of it since birth and the Vestibular System effects a whole lot more than just your hearing. But I bet your sister likely tried too tell you that also.
This confusion with sign language happens a lot. This is why it is a good idea for deaf people who sign to carry a brightly colored pocket sized card that says “DEAF”. But the trouble with that is that gang bangers are so incredibly STUPID that they wouldn’t know what “deaf” meant.
Though it did remind me of a veterans who had been raised in a bad city neighborhood. After his honorable service he returned home with no tolerance for gang bangers. Sitting in his car with a friend, the two of them talking and his friend gesticulating with his hands for emphasis, it caught the eye of some gang bangers, who approached his car making gang hand signs and wanting a fight.
Little did they know that he had a holster sewn on the side of the driver’s seat, with a sawed off shotgun in it. Soon a couple of the belligerents were staring down his barrel. This persuaded them to leave the area in a hurry. And after five paces, when they started to slow down, he fired one of his barrels into the air. They redoubled their efforts to “beat feet”.
So, answer these:
1) If your hearing could be 100% restored would you do it?
2) if you could have kids with zero deafness, would you want it?
The group I interact with (I wasn’t clear — I meet with these people with my sister: my ASL ain’t clear but there are enough interpreters) — they seem representative and the answers to both questions are a 100% NO.
So which is it? You choose deafness or are stuck with it?
And do you drive? Even though over 30% of our cues when we drive are auditory?
I assume you toss in extra tax dollars for cars for blind and the like.
