Jason Lewis, substitute host for El Rushbo, August 11, 2008 on the E.I.B Network:
"The federal government has to subsidize windmill production through production tax credits of about 1.8¢ per kilowatt. Wind Farms also receive an accelerated depreciation. Wind farms are also land intensive. They produce a fraction of the energy of a traditional power plant but they require 100 times the acreage.
From the National Center for Policy Analysis: to produce a 1000 megawatt power plant a wind farm would require 192,000 acres or 300 square miles. A nuclear plant would need about 1700 acres (or 2.65 mi2), and about 3 mi2 for a coal fired power plant. The transmission lines for the wind turbines would be massive, 12,000 miles just for the array."

planning laws were violated As someone who has to deal with leftist-moonbat-initiated planning and zoning laws on a regular basis, and leftist-moon-bat eco-weinies on a not-quite-as-regular basis, all I have to say is, "That right there is FUNNY, I don't care who you are!"

Quite a while back, Glenn Beck had a Spanish politician on his show talking about how these bloodsuckers had drained the spanish economy and fled for greener pastures (The USA)

SOMEBODY is making a killer $$$$ (boatload of money), no?
First they charge large amount of money to put them up (since it is pioneering work, the cost would have been humongous).
Now, you don’t want them? ok, we can take them down, but it’s going to cost you

I'm sure in no time at all, the Spanish will begin work on a new monorail system...

They have a big problem with building in Spain. There are so many crooked contractors in Spain the Brits were talking about avoiding the place.

If I were a Spanish architect, I would NOT want my area declared a World Heritage Area. Next thing you know, my choices would be micromanaged from Turtle Bay, New York, or is this something different?

disturbs the charm? you betcha..
as good an argument as any considering all the feathers and carrion left behind,, these are not the windmills of yore.. they are decimators of bird populii say some,, and when the wind don’t blow, they’re just there.. and it’s stinky... that’s why Ted and the Kennedys fought the offshore Massachusetts wind farm..
What’s the audubon society or sierra club to do? and where is PETA?
and then ya see where the Pacific Northwest has abundant hydro generated power and is scaling back wind power reliance? based on cost, I reckun. hydro is cheap
