For the sake of discussion, let’s agree to say “he chose to stop going after Obama”. He brought up more than just the BC after all. My question to you is why the concern about Trump? He is not running, he did not help Obama and in fact did hurt him for a short period of time, yet people are obsessed with him. Why? I do not get it. He was the only one taking it to Obama and HE is the bad guy! If you want to go so far as to buy into “he chose to stop saying stupid things”, when and who is going to start saying smart things? Are people going to express some concern about that instead of being concerned about someone who is NOT running?

Everyone has to admit that it was enjoyable to see Trump give “The Divine One” a few kicks as no other candidate is ready, willing and able to do so.

My third and, at this time, last thought is that he was actually working for Obama. The birth certificate issue wouldn’t go away, more and more people doubted that he was born in America, so they decided to put out another COLB. But how to explain why Obama delayed three years and then suddenly changed his mind?

That was my thought all along. Trump is a self absorbed con man. Too many people on FR didn't listen to the warnings.

While I am sure Trump was attractive to those who question the BC, I would be willing to bet you the overriding reason for the attraction was the fact that Trump was taking it to Obama PERIOD. As of today, NO ONE is taking it to Obama. I am glad all the Trump haters feel good, but our country is going down and now that Trump has been silenced, all we hear are cricket chirping

BBFD!

Trump only "took it to Obama" on the BC thingy. Never mind the fact that Obama is destroying the country on so many other things that Trump never said a word about. BTW, before Newt criticized Ryan, Trump criticized Ryan.

The idea that Trump could possibly survive an examination into his life was always laughable. I’m just glad it came to a head now and not NEXT May.

“It’s empty. As empty, perhaps, as the Trump brand that was used to lure investors”

This is how Trump has always operated, and always profited - leveraging someone else’s money to help fund a project he himself does not have enough capital for, and most often the incorporation of the venture results in Trump getting his profit whether or not the other investors, or lenders, ever do.

As Joe Crummy speculated this morning on his WABC radio program; that maybe Trump worked out a deal to spike up the “birther” issue, just so that he could spike his own TV ratings and Obama would have a bigger issue to deflate to his advantage. What a guy!!!

But warnings to my Freeper friends; way too many here and in the “Tea Party” believed the snake charmer Trump, because he sounded so populist for the moment, forgetting that nothing about our real values and principles stood within Trump himself or behind his purposes for saying the things he said - he was just selling himself, period. Another celebrity politician, another Swarzenegger.

“Populism is antithetical to conservatism”

It didn’t/doesn’t show up next to your comment at the start of the post, so I never saw it until you pointed it out to me.

But, in the context of what was SO wrong with so many quasi-Conservatives, Tea Party people and GOPers lifting up Trump, your tag line gives a good warning. More should heed it.

Well, it’s going to take a Populist to undo all the damage of liberalism, then we can have the luxury of voting in a conservative.

But as for now, these are desperate times.
