Replacement question: special election or temporary appointment?

There are several families in the Middle East who've been "hereditary diplomats" for centuries. You encounter them in all sorts of situations.

Most of the offspring go into some other line of work since there's only room for just so many, but the families are looked at pretty positively by everyone who deals with one of their number.

We have one of them in this neighborhood. I knew a member of a different one back when I was still working in DC.

One family we had get involved in cubscouting were actually a variation on that theme ~ they were "hereditary warriors" whose job was to protect diplomats (and they were from one of the Gulf states).

I doubt you'd run into very many of them elsewhere in the country, but around DC, they've still got 'em.

Sounds very Medieval doesn't it?

BTW, when Japanese immigrants were first arriving in the US (or Hawaii, then a British Protectorate) they were accompanied by government agents with the job of making sure none of them commited crimes and shamed the country. That's also very Medieval.

Much of the world is still Medieval.

Way, way back (when I was but a chil' working in the chicken cooking joint) we had an employee who'd wander around downtown Indianapolis at noontime and proposition women.

He used to get pretty banged up but he found numerous "friends".

That's what Tony was into ~ it's a probability game, but if you sift the flour ....... well, you can bake a cake from time to time.

No different than hereditary butchers, bakers or gangsta’s.

I still see no diplomatic background for Huma. She was involved in politics as Hillary’s resident carpet cleaner and SoS wasn’t even on the horizon.

Her parents were both highly educated Pakistanis (old man born in India before there was a Pakistan, but we can count him as a Pak anyway). These people had doctorates which marks them as being pretty high caste (which still exists if nobody says it does). they were quite special.

In the ME right up to about 37 years ago, most everybody was uneducated. Pakistan is still in bad shape.

Her brother appears very well connected ~ and that's all that counts ~ family, and how well are the males doing. Her mother was smart to get her out of Saudi and back to America to go to school.

Did you realize that before she showed up working for Hillary this woman has VIRTUALLY NO references on the internet.

I, myself, have only two and it's really hard to maintain that status. So, why NO REFERENCES.
